To the family that I chose:

Thank you all for being there for me when I needed you the most. I expected to make friends in college but I never believed that I would become this close to anyone. You all have broken down my walls (some more than others) and allowed me to open up and actually be myself.

I know that I have a tendency to be extremely frustrating at times but whether you believe it or not, I really appreciate all that you guys do for me. I honestly have no idea how I would survive college without you guys. You have become my second family, not the family that I was born into but a family we created.

While we may not talk every day, I know that you are there for me no matter what is going on. We have our differences but I think that it is those differences that bring us together. We have been through a lot during our friendship and somehow come out stronger than we were before. I am looking forward to making many more memories, hopefully happier ones but we’ll see what the future holds for us. As we move into the rest of our lives, there is a very good chance that we will drift apart. This saddens me, but know that no matter how far we drift apart, I will always be cheering for you. Your future holds great things and I know that each of you will go far and do great things.

In spite of all of my flaws, you always seem to find the good qualities about me. You never judge me for any of the sketchy decisions I have made in my life. You are always supportive no matter how many times I don’t take your advice.

I hope that you know how much I care about each of you. You have all made such an impact on my life, without you I wouldn’t be the person that I am today. You have changed my life for the better. We may not all agree a majority of the time but that is what family is for, to frustrated you even though they love you, to joke around with you, to support you, and to love you. I can only hope that one day I will be able to repay you for all of your love and support.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
