Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Chord Overstreet. You may know him as Sam from "Glee," but this guy is still just as busy as he was when he was on the show running all around the Southeast right now promoting his music, playing concerts, and introducing new people and old fans to his new style. I must say, I am definitely a fan of it.
Though he's been busy on the road, he found time to stop by our radio station on Thursday to sing one of his newest singles and one of my recent favorite songs, "Hold On." You can find the video for the remix here , but I definitely recommend checking out the acoustic version . It's definitely my favorite version of it out there.
As anyone who has watched "Glee" knows, Chord is also the master of quite a few impressions. In our interview with him, he showed off a few of them ranging from Obama and George W. Bush to Christopher Walken and my favorite, Matthew McConaughey. He's still working on his Donald Trump, so we let him slide on that one. Below is the full video so you don't miss a bit of the hilarity.
What I was most impressed with, besides his singing and his impressions, was how great of a guy he is. Overall, he was at the studio for almost two hours just hanging out and talking about all kinds of things. Topics ranged from the Taylor Swift vs Katy Perry feud and Justin Timberlake to his brother, Nash Overstreet's band, Hot Chelle Rae, and what Chord was like growing up. As it turns out, Chord traveled to South Carolina from his home in Nashville frequently when he was growing up because he played travel baseball. We also chatted about what it's like to film a show that is as busy as "Glee." As it turns out, it's easy to forget what all you've done when you have worn hundreds of outrageous costumes for a show, but I guarantee you he remembers those gold shorts.
After he got out of the studio, he wanted to see the town that he vacationed in so much as a child and decided to hit the beach in Myrtle. We pointed him to the beach for an afternoon of sand, sun, and ice cream before he headed out of town for the night.
When it comes down to it, Chord Overstreet is just another guy who wants to sit in the sun on the beach, he just so happens to have a great voice that will give you chills. But now you know that if you get the chance to see him in concert, you definitely should. Maybe even grab a beer with him afterward. He has plenty of stories to tell, and I promise you'll enjoy yourself.
