With the unfortunate likelihood of a Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton presidential election, it is time to choose between the two candidates... or is it? In the following video, Dr. Jill Stein explains why the two-party system is broken:
The mainstream media shoves Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton down our throats and make it seem like they are the only two options to vote for. A large reason for this is because those media outlets, like CNN and MSNBC, are actually funding or openly supporting their campaigns. CNN has donated over $400,000 to Hillary Clinton's campaign, which explains why the broadcasting network announced her as the Democratic Presidential Nominee before all the votes were even counted. MSNBC's Hardball host, Chris Matthews, openly supports Clinton so much that there has been a petition started to have Matthews removed for the remainder of the presidential race. However, there are plenty of other candidates outside the "two-party system." This article discusses third party candidates who may have a chance at taking the presidency.
A hopeful third party candidate is previously mentioned Dr. Jill Stein, who is running with the Green Party. If the ideals of Bernie Sanders are appealing, then Dr. Jill Stein may be a candidate worth looking into.
This is not Dr. Stein's first run at the presidency - she ran before back in 2012. She currently holds the record for most votes received by a woman candidate in the general election. So if you are also hoping for a female president, she is more than qualified. Here is a list of some of her accomplishments:
1. She has helped lead initiatives to fight environmental racism and injustice, to promote healthy communities, to strengthen local green economies and to revitalize democracy.
2. She has helped win victories in campaign finance reform, racially-just redistricting, green jobs, and the cleanup of incinerators, coal plants, and toxic threats.
3. She was a principal organizer for the Global Climate
Convergence for People, Planet and Peace over Profit.
4. She began to fight for a healthy environment as a human right, assisting non profits, community groups and Native Americans combating environmental injustice and racism in dangerous exposures like lead and mercury in air and water pollution, incinerators and land fills, toxic waste sites and more.
5. She helped lead the fight to clean up the "Filthy Five" coal plants in Massachusetts, raising the bar nationally to a cleaner standard for coal plants.
6. She helped close a toxic medical waste incinerator in Lawrence, MA, one of the poorest communities in New England.
7. She played a key role in rewriting the Massachusetts fish advisories to better protect women and children, Native Americans and immigrants from mercury contamination.
8. She also helped preserve the moratorium on new toxic
trash incinerators in Massachusetts.

If Republican views are more appealing, Libertarian Gary Johnson, former governor of New Mexico, may be of interest.
Johnson, like Dr. Stein, ran in the 2012 presidential election, placing third and gaining more votes than any other Libertarian candidate in history. Those who like Donald Trump because of his strong business background — fear not, Gary Johnson is also a businessman, who may be a bit better than Donald Trump too. Johnson started a "handyman business" going door-to-door and offering his services. Twenty years down the line, his business became one of the largest construction companies in New Mexico. Mind you, this was without "a small loan of one million dollars." Other than his own business, some of Johnson's accomplishments include:
1. Cut taxes 14 times while never raising them as Governor of New Mexico.
2. When he left office, New
Mexico was one of only four states in the country with a balanced
budget.
3. He held growth of New Mexico state government to around 4 percent.
4. Under the
governor's leadership, two new privatized prisons were built.
5. Initiated through his For the Children's Sake education reform, nearly a half billion more dollars were invested in education each year.

There are more options than just Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton when it comes to choosing who to vote for to become the next President of the United States. The mainstream media likely will not reveal those candidates to the general public. If the citizens of the United States want a democratic country, one whose government will listen to what the people have to say, consider looking into candidates who are not associated with the Democratic or Republican party. They may not be well known, but with the power of the internet, word of mouth, and collaboration, a candidate outside of the two-party system could very well become our next president.
