YouTube.com is more of a medium for music videos and uploading school projects these days, however, about a decade ago, the site attracted a plethora of middle school students for hours on end. Every. Day.
Not to say that this isn't the case for some people. But let's face it, people were idolized through YouTube. People watched a web series made from someone's computer at home more regularly than a television series. Hell, good old Justin Bieber was discovered on it!
It seems as though this trend has gotten away from us with Vine, Netflix, and Instagram taking away our attention. But I'd like to remind everyone of the popular videos that seriously embodied our youth. Here's to the countless hours I spent learning every word to every one of these videos:
1. Smosh
It's hard to pick just one video to accurately summarize Smosh (but Pokemon is dope so I chose this one). It's essentially two boys that have super stupid humor that you hate to laugh at but you do because it's actually really well done.
2. Rejected Cartoons
"My spoon is too big."
Why did we find this so damn funny.
3. Shoes
This actually will never get old. My friends and I literally still quote it to this day, stupid boyyyyyy.
4. How to be Gangster
The quality of editing software of this video is so incredibly low, however still so incredibly iconic to when everyone referred to themselves as "gangster."
5. Anything from Jenna Marbles
Pretty sure she's like a radio host now...
6. Potter Puppet Pals
You're simply LYING if you say you didn't recreate this with your friends like every day in 3rd grade. Or 8th. Or like last week.
7. Supermac18
I like religiously watched this kid for like four years and I don't understand how I kept up for so damn long???
8. Charlie the Unicorn
"Chaaaarrrrrlieeeeeeeee."
Quite annoying to re-watch, let me tell ya.
9. Marcel the Shell
Don't lie. You tried SO hard to master this voice.
