Cheers To What's To Come

Your college years are just your starting point.

Who decided to start spreading the word that your college years are the best years of your life, because someone needs to tell them their wrong. I am currently in my last semester of undergrad and if this is truly as good as it gets, can I press rewind and start over? I don't want the past 3.5 years to have been the best years of my life. If that were the case, I'd have nothing to look forward to. None of us would have anything to look forward to.

I hope you have a blast throughout your college years, it's our time to figure things out for ourselves. Whether you're trying to figure out what to do with your life, the solution to an equation that has no relevance to your major, or if you have enough change to pay for that iced coffee you desperately need, college kind of sucks. Maybe the person who deemed college as the "best years" actually said "stressed years" and we just misunderstood them.

As much stress that comes along with college, we still need to make the most of it while we're here. When you feel like giving up, if you haven't felt that way yet, you probably will at one point, don't. Think of the days , the years that lie ahead of you. Your college years are just your starting point. One day you'll land a great job, and if it's not your dream job, keep looking.

Take the time in college to figure out you and what you want. Go out and make lifelong friendships. Take a mental health day when you need it. Never stop busting your butt so that 10 years down the road when you have your own place, a family of your own, and the job you always wanted you can look back on those years of 8 a.m.s and midnight coffee runs. You can look back on those years and let out a sigh of relief. You'll laugh at yourself for thinking that your college years are as good as it gets.

One day, you'll be surrounded by friends, Bud Lights in hand, cheers-ing to the end of another semester, and the next you'll be surrounded by your family at the dinner table celebrating your life partner's job promotion.

I don't know about you, but my college years will be mediocre at best as compared to what's to come.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
