Cheers To Sophomore Year

The quad is overflowing with people, everyone's walking around campus with book-bags and people are searching left and right for the nearest darty- it's that time of the year again! School is back and as a returning student at Syracuse University who is beginning her sophomore year there, it's such a great feeling to be back.

Comparing freshman and sophomore year, I've realized how much one year could make a difference. I've only been back for a few days now and I've already noticed how different sophomore year is from freshman year.

Freshman year was truly one that I could never forget. From meeting all of my floor-mates, who have thankfully turned into some of my best friends, to going to DJ's probably way too much for my own good, freshman year was a memorable experience filled with brand new places, people and adventures. Everything was new and exciting because it was my first time living away from home and getting the whole dorming experience.

Returning sophomore year, I've come back with more knowledge and experience about this beautiful campus that I call home. Now I'm familiar with the buildings that I walk past everyday, I know which dining hall typically serves the best food (Ernie Davis does, in case any of you freshman were wondering) and I know that the line at Chipotle on Marshall Street is always way too long (but definitely still worth it). As a sophomore, it's easier to get back into a daily routine and get adjusted to living here even after a whole summer of being home.

Even though sophomore year isn't as new as freshman year was, due to the fact that we're more experienced, it's still an adventure within itself. From exploring areas outside of the campus to learning how to take the buses to South Campus (or even learning how to cook if you're living on South Campus), sophomore year is still incredibly fun and exciting, just in a completely different way from freshman year.

Cheers to sophomore year- a year full of new memories with some of my favorite people.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
