Summer time is full of summer flings and romantic dates. It is full of love and happiness! It is also full of summer jobs and broke college students like us, trying to pay for dates with inadequate funds. We have all been there. We have no careers and don't have trees that grow money for dates. Here are 10 affordable, romantic ideas for broke people like me!

1. Lookout Mountain

Lookout Mountain is where tons of teenagers and young adults go to look out at the sunset or to look at the beautiful views Colorado has to offer. It is a perfect spot for a first kiss or even your 50th kiss! It will only cost gas money and you will get a incredible, picturesque view and a lifetime memory.

2. Celestial Seasonings

In Boulder, there is a Celestial Seasonings factory. If you and your partner are a fan of tea, go on the tour of the factory and try out the many teas they have to offer! This only costs the gas money to get there!

3. Hike

A nice hike in the morning or even the evening when it isn't scorching hot is extremely relaxing and enjoyable. You are surrounded by Earth's beautiful nature. You can go to your stopping point and have a nice lunch while looking at the view in front of you. This is completely free and the costs are getting there and maybe money to pack a lunch!

4. Picnic

Finding a park or an open field to lay a blanket out with your favorite foods is fun and you can also get to know the person more this way! Food always makes people happy, too!

5. Backyard Lit Dinner

Grab a lamp or Christmas lights, wrap them on your backyard fence in the corner, grab a table, and make some food, and have a cute dinner in your backyard! If you want, you can add in rose petals or flowers somewhere. It is cute and very romantic. It can be as inexpensive as you want it to be!

6. Puzzles

Getting a puzzle out from your old game closet or even buying a ten dollar one at Target is going to allow you and your partner to work as a team all while enjoying yourselves. You can open a bottle of wine or have pretzels on the side while you complete the puzzle. You guys will be working together on the puzzle which will be a metaphor on how to work for your relationship!

7. Museums

The Denver Art Museum is eight dollars per person and it is a big place to look through! You can evaluate art and history and learn new things. It will be intellectual and interesting!

8. Drive-in movie

Drive-in movies are usually decently priced and it is a cute way for you to cuddle and spend time with your loved one. You can pack snacks or popcorn from home, bring blankets, and watch good movies in good weather for a low price.

9. Stargazing

Getting nice warm comfy blankets and looking at the stars is surprisingly fun. You and your partner can think about life and the many ways it works. It allows for a deep intellectual conversation or it can even be a silly talk about nothing! You can bring some snacks or a candle or whatever you want! This is completely free!

10. Cooking With Each Other

It is so fun to make spaghetti or to bake a cake. It is cheesy or cliche, but it is fun to get in a small food fight or to taste to amazing/horrible dish that you guys have worked on together!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
