Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. -Mark Twain
Everybody has that one crazy dream that they are pretty sure they can’t reach, but they continue to hope that it will happen someday. Chase that dream. Hoping that it will just fall into your lap, with little to no effort, will not get you anywhere. You have to go out and make your dream happen. It takes time, dedication, and hard work to begin the process of chasing your dreams. Just because you put in all of your time and effort doesn’t mean that it will come true right away.
Some dreams will never come true. I know that’s harsh, but sometimes it’s for the better. Achieving your dreams is not nearly as important as chasing them. When you are chasing your dreams, you are constantly working and improving yourself. You are putting all of your effort into yourself and where you want to be. You are making yourself the best you can be to fulfill that dream. And, you will make a million memories on that journey. You will learn just how much you can take before you break. You will learn just how hard you are willing to work, and just how much you want that dream. You will fall, and you will pick yourself back up again. You will find out who truly supports you and who is there when it’s convenient for them. You will lose friends and you will make new ones. But the most important thing you will do is strive and fight to be the best that you can be.
What happens when you reach your dream? You have finally made it. All of that dedication and hard work have paid off and you are standing on top of the world. This is the point where you can decide to quit improving yourself or chase an even higher dream. You can be content with where you are and how good you are, or you can keep pushing and fighting to reach that next dream.
Fight for that dream. Always. If you never chase a dream, you are just moving through life in the rut that you always have. You are letting your circumstances decide who you will be and what you let yourself do. Yes, you may work so hard for so long and never quite make it. But you should never be disappointed unless you didn’t try. If you gave it everything you have and still came up short, make some changes and keep driving. You never fail until you give up. It’s that simple.
