The Juice Laundry, located in the old Coca-Cola building right next to Timbercreek Market and Blue Ridge Cyclery, is Charlottesville's newest organic juice bar. The location could not be more perfect for the trendy, organic business because of the open, welcoming atmosphere. It almost feels like you're in a yoga studio. There is ample space and a comfy seating area with a fun couch and eclectic lighting.
The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of pressed juices, smoothies, smoothie bowls, nut milks, and a ton of different juice cleanses. For a little over $7, the smoothies are definitely not cheap. At $9, bowls are more expensive than smoothies. However, the website explains why their products cost a pretty penny. Juice Laundry cold-presses their juices using Norwalk and Goodnature hydraulic press juicers to extract the most vitamins, enzymes, and minerals from each piece of fresh produce. The Juice Laundry also partners with the Radical Roots Community Farm, a local farm in Keezleton, Virginia.
The menu items are definitely pricey, but the Cacao Monster smoothie (banana, dates, cacao, almond butter, and house almond milk) I had was amazing. The Superman smoothie, made with banana, dates, blueberries, dragon fruit, goji berries, and house almond milk, also caught my eye. The Juice Laundry is also a prime study spot because it was relatively quiet on a Sunday afternoon and there were many snack options right there in case I got hungry.
The Juice Laundry also sells bottled juices that you can take home with you. You can even order many of their menu items from their website and schedule a pick-up at the store or delivery straight to you for a $10 delivery fee. Juice cleanses, which can be ordered for one or two days, come in packages that range from $50 to $60. Salads and snacks are coming to the Juice Laundry soon! You can read more about the juice bar on their blog.
Charlottesville's organic, hipster-esque food scene is growing and The Juice Laundry is a part of this relatively new development. I'll definitely be coming back to the Juice Laundry soon. Between its fun ambience, kind and polite staff, and a wide variety of menu items that are healthy and also taste good, I would be stupid not to.
