If The Characters In "Shameless" Had College Majors, Here's What They'd Be Studying2

Although none of the characters in "Shameless" seem to be very interested in pursuing higher education as much as they are interested in just surviving their day to day life, I thought it would be interesting to imagine what they would want to study if they were able to. With such unique personalities in this family and such high-stakes, I feel like they would all enjoy very different fields and would want completely different things out of their college experience.

1. Fiona, Pre-Law/Political Science

Being able to maintain a family with five other children and an unhelpful father is no easy task, especially when that family is the Gallaghers. Therefore, I could see Fiona pursuing pre-law or political science in college.

2. Lip, Engineering

Even though Lip is against college because he thinks the system is a scam, if he were to change his mind and go, I could see him doing something in STEM. Probably engineering, especially because he got perfect scores on his SATs (which he took for other people).

3. Ian, Chemistry/Physics

Ian would probably end up majoring in something that would help him with all of the military stuff he is into, perhaps a foreign language or history. He may also want to look into the sciences, being very close to Lip, and may want to learn about the chemistry and physics of weaponry.

4. Debbie, Education/Nursing

In season one, Debbie steals a little boy because she is lonely and wants someone to take care of. I could very easily see her going into education to be with children, or perhaps nursing so she can work with old people like Aunt Ginger.

5. Carl, Economics/Business/ Accounting

Carl is very focused on money throughout the series, so it is completely plausible that he would pursue a major in economics, business, or accounting.

6. Liam, Psychology/Sociology

From what I have seen, Liam has been witnessing all of the Gallagher's crazy shenanigans his whole life, making him an excellent candidate to go into psychology or sociology, and perhaps be a counselor of some sort.

7. Frank, Arts/Communications

Frank would definitely go in with a plan, with probably something like business as his major, but halfway through he would switch to an arts degree or communications.

8. Veronica, Nursing/Pre-Med

Veronica would certainly study nursing or go on to become a doctor because she is always patching people up when they inevitably get hurt, and she shares so much with the Gallaghers.

9. Kevin, Chemistry/Psychology

Kevin would probably want to try his hand at several different majors before he settles on one, but with his experience bartending, I could see him going into chemistry or perhaps psychology like Liam (bartenders listen to drunk people problems all day).

10. Sheila, English

Sheila would probably major in something like English because she is fantastically awkward but very good with words, just like 90 percent of people who study English.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
