The tale of a poor woman and a wealthy man is the classic love story that everyone thinks of. As young girls dream of their fairytale prince charming, the characters in the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice are just the fairytale characters that little girls dream of.
Whether reading the book or watching the movie, people tend to relate to the characters and their personalities, longing for the life that they live and having the things they have. Our own characteristics, similar to those of characters in the movies, give us the ability to do so much for those around us.
Who do you most relate to?
Jane Bennett: You may be Jane If you find yourself usually staying in the background, tending toward the quiet side quiet, and preferring to be alone. You are gentle, kind-hearted, and easy to talk to. You have the qualities to be a lifelong friend. You tend to be extremely cautious in all of life's decisions and have a hard time with expressing your own feelings.
Lydia Bennett: The wild child. Although widely immature and irresponsible, you long for the adventure in life. You know that you are not like those around you and believe that you are capable of so much more than what life gives you.
Mr. Darcy: At times, you can be prideful and quick to judge, but you are extremely thoughtful. You keep track of the little details, but you are also a total control freak! When things are not going your way, you do all that you can to fix the problem and make things right.
Mr. Wickham: Handsome and charming, you are the picture perfect prince charming! Although you can be a bit self-centered, you have the ability to read people, which makes you easily approachable.
Mr. Bingley: You are good-natured and put a smile on everyone's face. You are the person that everyone wants to be around, but you are easily manipulated by those around you.
Elizabeth Bennett: Throughout your life, you tend to be the second choice, but your wit and good sense tend to give you the upper hand. You often have a critical mind, which makes others hesitate to talk to you. The littlest things interest you and your laugh is contagious. You are able to judge the best in people. You love to read and your knowledge of literature makes you seem vain and outspoken.
So how do your characteristics give you the ability to do something for yourself?
Even the most prideful or prejudice person is able to do so much with their lives. It is how you decide to use your skills and traits to influence those around you that makes the difference. We have to learn that it is okay not to be good at everything; life is uncontrollable and we can’t always fix the things that are broken. We must also learn to not make snap judgements, we can’t judge a book by its cover, and we can’t decide who we want to be around by just a first impression. It is the time that we spend getting to know each other that truly counts. It is then when we find who is a true friend or a perfect love. The time that is not planned tends to be the time that we find anything and everything that we are looking for, even when we weren’t looking. Our personalities are all different for a reason. Those who are quiet can be best friends with the person who likes to be the center of attention, all because it makes them feel bigger. The opposites, the negatives, the positives, the things that some people wish to have; all are the things that complement even those who are the most opposite.
