CFAW As Explained By Tim Hawkins

It is beginning to look a lot like CFAW. Yep folks, it is that time of the year again when the population of Liberty University grows by a significant amount of overly excited high schoolers. Twice a semester at LU, we welcome prospective students onto our campus to live the Liberty Life for a weekend. In light of this wondrous occasion, here is a list of CFAW extravaganzas as explained by Tim Hawkins.

1. Finding out that Tim Hawkins will be at Convocation

Not only will Tim Hawkins be making our stomachs hurt from excessive amounts of laughter, but he will also be recording for his next DVD.

2. Realizing how early you need to get to Convocation to get a good seat

Having a 9:20 class has never been so stressful.

3. Having to tell the CFAWs that you also have no idea how to find classes in Demoss

*Follows one arrow on a sign*

*Finds sign that has an arrow going the opposite direction for the same room number*

*Gives up and wanders around aimlessly until room happens to unhide itself*

4. Seeing how long the line is to get into the ROT

I just wanted some pulled pork and corn bread...is that too much to ask for?

5. Trying to look approachable and friendly as they arrive

CFAW: Let's do everything and go everywhere on campus!

LU Student: *Tries not to think about the three tests, two papers, and 19 discussion board posts that are due in four hours*

6. Hearing that the CFAWs want to get up three hours before they need to be anywhere to get ready

I have never seen so many hair dryers, hair straighteners, curling irons, lip glosses, eye shadow pallets, foundations, eyeliners, and eyebrow pencils in my life.

7. Carrying the CFAWs luggage up to their room

I thought they were coming for three days, not for three weeks.

8. Trying to relax after all of the chaos on campus

It is nice to sit back and relax after all the events, games, concerts and classes.

9. Trying to find a parking spot within five miles of the dorm

CFAW: when getting a spot in the pit is actually a celebratory event.

10. Hiding to get ten minutes of peace and quiet

Sometimes ten minutes is all you need to remain sane.

11. Bidding adieu

The moment we have all been waiting for or perhaps even dreading, the anticipated departure of these lovely College-For-A-Weekenders.

As the school year goes on, let us remember to stay focused on the Lord, our schoolwork, and whatever else winds our watches. Stay safe during CFAW2016!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
