Throughout this weekend, it will be all over the news about Easter Sunday around churches. The two days where the churches are at its maximum members are during Easter and during Christmas time. We have substituted the meaning of celebrating it and have replaced it with a bunny and Easter eggs. Easter is not about a bunny, the same way that Christmas is not about Santa Claus. There is a higher definition as to why we celebrate Passover.
Why do we celebrate this extraordinary event?
1. Jesus resurrected and it is not a myth.
The greatest scientists couldn't disapprove this theory. The Roman soldiers could not discover his body. His body was never found after he was crucified, and he later revealed himself to his disciples. It isn't something that we have a hope in; it is a fact and a reality.
2. The power of the resurrection is the reason why we are Christians.
Without the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Christianity would just be another plain religion. Jesus didn't come to bring us a religion, but he came to bring the truth. Everything that he said was backed up by his miracles, signs, and wonders. It wasn't mere belief, but it was the truth and the power of God.
3. Passover is a time of abundance, blessings, and freedom.
Jesus resurrected around the time of Passover, one of the main feasts of the Jews at the time. These celebrations signal the opening of heavens; they are a celebration to get into heaven and to restore ourselves onto God. Although we don't celebrate them to get into heaven anymore, we celebrate them because we know that blessings and freedom are poured onto us through this season.
4. Jesus is alive.
There is no greater reality. No one can doubt it. No one can counter this fact. Many of us don't want to face the fact, because facing it would mean changing our lifestyle. If Jesus really resurrected, then everything he preached must have been from God! And if it must have been from God, that means we would have to change our minds into his likeness. Not everyone is ready for that. Not everyone is ready to give God their best.
5. We don't celebrate it for bunnies; we celebrate it because we are washed by the blood of Jesus.
The Bible says that his blood redeemed us. His blood washed away all sin and iniquities. A bunny cannot replace the power of Jesus. When we have an encounter with him, our lives will change completely!
I challenge you to go and celebrate the power of Jesus this Sunday! It can be at your local church. There has to be one friend that you are close to that goes to a church. If for some reason no one is close to you, choose a family member, or look-up nearby churches. Your life will never be the same!
