Back in March of 2015, pop star Carly Rae Jepsen released the song "I Really Like You" and it was the kind energetic and catchy song that you would expect from the singer. She is the one who released "Call Me Maybe" back in 2011. It's typical to have a Pop singer produce new music, but what I wasn't ready for was the music video for this song. Yes, I didn't watch the music video until very recently. And, honestly, I'm surprised that I made it that long based on what I found when I ultimately watched the video.
The video stars Tom Hanks. That's right, two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks is in a Carly Rae Jepsen music video. When the video started I honestly thought that I accidentally clicked on the wrong video. But, no. It was real.
There was Tom Hanks, lip-syncing to "I Really Like You," just doing Tom Hanks stuff. I had no idea what was happening, but I didn't care because it was just so great. The "Forrest Gump" actor just walks around, says hi to fans, signs some autographs and just does whatever. And they make two "Forrest Gump" references within the first two minutes because, let's face it, they had to.
But, that's not all. Not only do you get to see Tom Hanks just kinda walk around and get ready for his day, you also get to see him dance. That's right. Tom Hanks dances with Carly Rae Jepsen and a bunch of other backup dancers. It's guaranteed to be the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your entire life.
Also, Justin Bieber shows up randomly at the end for no reason. No context. No one even gestures to be like, "Hey, look Justin Bieber's here." He's just there. I doubt you would even notice that he's there, at the most you would be like "wow that backup dancers looks a lot like Justin Beiber." It's him, though. I know. I looked it up.
The entire time I was just wondering how I wasn't already made aware because it's the kind of confusing random shit that I live for. It was intended to just be a look into Tom Hanks' everyday life, which is not what you'd expect from a song about having a crush on someone. However, I appreciated the twist. It wasn't what I thought it was gonna be.
I'm sure there are some of you that don't even believe that there is a video of Tom Hanks lip-syncing to Carly Rae Jepsen with Justin Bieber just kinda showing up exists. I'm not lying. Run to YouTube right now and get ready for the most confusing and euphoric experiences of your life. I'm surprised that the video itself wasn't nominated for an Oscar, cause, you know, Tom Hanks was in it.
