She's the one I call when something is wrong, sometimes even at two in the morning, when she has to be at work at the next day. She's the one who continually shows me unconditional love and support even when she doesn't agree with all of the decisions that I make. She's the one I have my best memories with whether it be vacations, field trips, shopping for my first car, going on my first college tour or moving to Dahlonega at the age of eighteen. She's the one who gives me a reality check when it is overdue. She's the one I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. She's the one I can't imagine living without. She's my mother and this is a letter to her.
Mom, thank you for being one of the most amazing people in my life. From the time I was young, you always encouraged me to pursue my interest even though they changed so frequently. Thank you for being at every softball game, soccer game, football game that I twirled at, band recital, gymnastics showcase and honors day. I can't think of a single event you missed and having your support meant the world to me. You've shown me the same support as I've aged, even though I've changed my college major five times you've supported my decisions until I finally found my true niche.
Thank you for always pushing me to do my best especially in school. I haven't forgotten the countless hours we spent at the kitchen table working on hooked on phonics worksheets. You always made sure I had all of my work done and would go over it with me. Thank you for the countless hours you spent reading to me and listening to me read, you're the reason I have a love for books. Even in high school you would read the same book as me so that we could discuss it and make sure I understood the content. I'm pretty sure there aren't to many mothers who do that. You're the main reason I succeeded in school, I wanted to make you proud. My valedictorian medal belongs to you as much as it does me, because you allowed me to put school first and not have to worry about other things such as a job in high school.
Thank you for making my college experience possible. You encouraged me to leave home and it has been the best three years of life so far. When times get hard, you're always there to give advice or just listen if that's what I need. You've come up here countless times simply because I needed you, and I know that three-hour drive is not fun. Thank you for supporting my decision to get a job, even if you though I'd only last a couple of weeks. You made work and option not a necessity, I know you've financially sacrificed things you've wanted to give me the life that I have in Dahlonega and I am so appreciative.
You've made me the person I am and I love you so much for that. I don't know what I would do if I ever lost you, but I know I'm prepared for life thanks to you. I know one day when I have children I'll be an amazing mother, because I had the best example possible. There is no way to put how amazing you are in words but this is my best attempt.
