First, you decide to sell an item.
Do you really want to sell it? Is it worth selling?
You log onto Facebook Marketplace. You take time to write up a witty and grammatically correct description for the item. You take pictures. You log off. Someone emails you. They ask questions. You exchange messages for a while. You can tell they're interested. They decide they want to purchase the item. You find a time to meet. Oh, but they can't do it tomorrow morning because they go to school. You know people at that school and wonder if they also know them. You decide to meet at night. You both think of a public place to meet. But they live on the other side of town so you decide to meet in the middle. You don't want to get murdered. And oh…did they mention they're bringing others along? They don't want to get murdered either. The day comes. You ask someone to go with you. What an inconvenience for them. You drive 30 minutes. They drive 30 minutes. You arrive and make sure there are others around. You need witnesses if you get mugged. You start getting anxious. What will they look like? How old are they? The moment arrives as a car pulls up and a person gets out. They are with someone they obviously dragged out of bed, but the buyer looks incredibly normal. You feel like you need to make small talk. They just want to get out of there. They give you the money and you give them the item. You try to make conversation but it's awkward and they practically run to their car. You walk back to your own car empty-handed. Though it's not much, they have taken something from you. All of that work just for a 15 second transaction.
You drive 30 minutes back to your home. The streets are empty. But alas, there is a text waiting for you when you get home. "Thank you. I'm so happy to have this _________. I've never had one like it before. And I'm glad I bought it from such a nice person!" It is not much but it is closure. The closure you didn't know you were looking for. All is well. All is well indeed.
