The stereotypical college student wears pajamas to class and hasn’t brushed their hair in a few days. As a first year student, I haven’t reached that point yet, but I have seen the occasional hot mess walking across campus. What was surprising to me, however, was the few girls who wear a full face of makeup with a fabulous outfit to match every single day. Most people snicker or make a rude joke about how they try too hard, but to be honest I have the utmost respect for these girls.
First of all, the art of makeup is something that only few can master. There are so many different kinds of makeup and different styles of how to do your makeup. The makeup-industry is constantly changing and it can be really difficult to keep up with the “in” style. As many times as I have finally felt like I am all caught up with the latest trend, I’m usually still behind. When I see girls walking around campus with photoshoot-worthy makeup, though, I aspire to keep up the effort of masking my face in the morning. The amount of time and effort people put into their makeup varies, but whatever it is, I definitely respect it.
The second thing I want to point out is how amazing it is that these girls put together the perfect outfit along with the perfect makeup look. When I wake up in the morning, I rarely reach for a pair of jeans. As the weather here in D.C. gets colder, my motivation to try and slay an outfit is little to none. I see girls who rock a big sweater, cute skirt, rustic-looking boots, and the perfect hair and makeup every day. How are they doing it? I certainly don’t know, but shoutout to them for never failing to be presentable.
Basically, all I’m trying to say is that the girls who put countless time and effort to look presentable deserve respect. If someone wants to express themselves through a face full of makeup and an intricately put together outfit just for a day of classes, so be it. The art of makeup and fashion is something that most of us have a difficult time figuring out, so kudos to those who do it every day. Keep on slaying queens!
