It Might be time to Outgrow Your Friend Group

Call the Doctor

There is a lot in this world that scares me: snakes, dogs that jump all over you, boys who travel in packs and drive the same truck but in different colors. But I think one of my number one fears is this: that you or someone you love will be affected by the "Staying With Your Friend Group Even Though They are Not Good Friends" epidemic. It's nothing new. I'm sure our grandparents and great grandparents, and the ancestors that came over on the Mayflower experienced it too. Check the symptoms below to see if it's time to Outgrow Your Friend Group.

1. You have FOMO...all the time

I'm talking the FOMO you get when your friends purposely don't invite you places, or worse, they seem to keep forgetting that you exist. You're worth a thought. If you're taking a walk down memory lane with the group, and don't remember being present at any of the pitstops? It might be time to reevaluate the crew.

2. You're always feeling Under the Bus

When issues arise, do you always seem to be taking the blame? If so, newsflash! You are not Regina George, and you don't belong under the bus.

3. Their hours are 9-5

Friendship isn't always the most convenient thing in the world, but a good friend does their best to be there even when the timing isn't the best. If you can't call them outside of their regular friendship hours, you need to talk about their schedule.

4. You're a friendship booty call

If they only want your boozed up, party self, it's probably not true love...or friendship. You don't have to feel guilty about wanting someone who wants you all the time, not just when it's convenient. It might be important to talk about taking this to the next level or ending it altogether.

5. You're the last resort

You are a five star resort worth a long stay, not a dreaded stop before the final destination of loneliness.

6. You're not yourself

If you're having trouble recognizing the face in the mirror, it might be time to look more deeply into your reflection. If your friends don't help you stay true to yourself, what are either of you gaining?

7. You're not happy

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
