Buying textbooks is definitely not a fun process. After paying for tuition, room and board, and other necessities, your bank account is nearly dry. Unfortunately you have to make room for another dreaded expense: textbooks. Buying textbooks is a joke, and here's why:
1. Textbooks can be ridiculously expensive.
I'm using this book for maybe three and a half months, and it's more expensive than my arm and my leg. And I'm supposed to use those for my entire life.
2. And don't we pay enough for college to begin with?
We pay so much in tuition and housing (not to mention those fun technology and general fees) so why can't our schools provide us with free textbooks? Shouldn't we have the materials that they insist we need without cost?
3. But we do our best to get over that sad fact and buy our books.
Don't mind me, I'll be eating ramen for the rest of my life.
4. And then this happens: you go to class and find out you need another book. For the next time you meet.
Is that even allowed??
5. You rush to your campus bookstore or Amazon, buy the book, and feel so proud of yourself when the book arrives.
I don't have Amazon Prime for nothing.
6. So you use the book that class. Maybe you use it the class after. Maybe not.
Maybe it becomes a really nice decoration in your dorm for the rest of the semester.
7. Unfortunately, there's a big chance that you'll never use your books in another class.
We can only hope for our wallets' sake.
8. Or in life, for that matter.
Maybe I'll have enough money left for bookshelves.
