Buying A Christmas Tree, As Told By Michael Scott

Buying A Christmas Tree, As Told By Michael Scott

Basically from the minute Thanksgiving dinner is finished, it's the Christmas season, it's just a fact of life. Something that comes along with this season is of course buying a Christmas tree, which is always a magical and exciting journey, but if we're all honest here sometimes it can be stressful. Like, can we all just come clean and admit that sometimes all the trees just really look the same? I mean, I know we all say we can tell a superior tree from the rest, but I mean... I think it's time we all come together and realize the ups and downs of the journey of finding a Christmas tree, as told by none other than Michael Scott from The Office, duh!

1. Everyone piles in the car to go find the perfect tree, and no one can contain their joy

Then Mariah Carey starts playing in the car, and it's all so beautiful and you truly feel all is right with the world.

2. The car journey starts to stretch on, and everyone loses a tiny bit of joy, and you start to realize that food would make this better

Sometimes not even Mariah can make car trips exciting, I'm sorry I just said that but it just is the truth

3. Then you finally get to the tree farm, and life is so exciting again!!

It's all so exhilarating with the trees and the fresh air and also the hot chocolate stand, but that's definitely not the most exciting part... ok maybe it is, but also the trees are exciting too!

4. As you're waiting for some tractor to take you up to the trees, you realize it's colder than you anticipated and it's kind of a struggle

And yes at least one member of your family warned you about this before, but I mean we all make mistakes right?

5. But then the ride finally comes, and you get to sit in a cool tractor and ride around, and you feel pretty outdoorsy and cool

Sometimes it's better not to think about the fact that it's a 90-year-old man driving it, and that the tractor is oddly unstable, and that there are definitely way too many people riding.

6. Everything's cool and you're checking out a tree, and then you look around and realize you lost your entire family

And suddenly your life flashes before your eyes as you realize you may never find your way out of the sea of trees. Then you hear your mom's voice from ten feet behind you and realize you were maybe a little dramatic...

7. Then everyone else is looking at a tree, and you have to be real and say it looks like the Charlie Brown sad Christmas tree

You have a standard of perfection you're holding this tree to, and although you're 90% sure every single tree looks the same, you have to at least look like you're an expert

8. Then you find a tree that's definitely perfect, but they all shoot it down

You're honestly kind of hurt, but you try to move on for the sake of Christmas spirit or whatever.

9. Then you all agree on one, and it's just a really big moment

Part of you is really excited to find a tree, and part of you is excited that everyone finally agreed on one tree after you looked at a million and a half.

10. You're standing by said perfect tree, and you notice some other family start to eye it, and you start to feel threatened

They start straying dangerously close to your tree, so you have to make it clear that you're ready to fight for your Christmas tree if it comes down to it.

11. Once the tree finally gets cut down, you start to wait for the tractor to take you back down, and after a while you get worried it's not coming:

Just as you start to wonder if you have frostbite, it finally comes, and you now truly begin to question the 90-year-old tractor driver man.

12. Then you're finally on the way home, with the tree questionably tied to the top of the car, and your Christmas spirit is alive and well again:

You've been through a lot, but now you get to go home and decorate so life is just so good. Then you remember you have to put the lights on the tree, and the rollercoaster of emotions begins again.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
