But Is Timing Really Everything?

We tend to use the phrase “the timing wasn’t right” way too often. Maybe it’s true for whatever the situation was but honestly, we can’t keep using that excuse for everything. Don’t get me wrong—I believe timing does mean a lot in life but it doesn’t mean everything.

Timing rules our daily lives, but should it rule every aspect of our lives?

What I believe determines our lives is the choices we make. Sure, you can blame things on bad timing but honestly, you can also choose to make it the right time. You can choose to not let that certain something hold you back. You can choose to move forward instead of sitting still.

Blaming timing is convenient and simple and I'd be lying if I said I didn’t blame a lot of things that didn’t go the way I wanted on time. It’s just easier that way.

“That relationship didn’t work because it wasn’t the right time.”

“I didn’t get that job because it wasn’t good timing.”

“Today isn’t a good time to start my workout.”

We use the reason “timing” for everything. And quite frankly, we need to stop using it so much. Sure, timing may have a bit to do with each situation but the choices we made that led up to all these situation is the reason our life is the way it is. And the decisions we make after each of those situations help create your life.

Take responsibility for your life, go out, take risks and defy the odds. Own your life and don’t let timing rule you. Only then can you start to make life what you want. Don’t blame everything on time and just expect time to make your life perfect for you. Go make your life perfect yourself. At the end of the day, it’s the choices you make that shape your future.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
