- This is for all my 19 Traditional Meal Plan homies, don’t forget to use your left over meals to buy something from Mather every Thursday! You’ll be astonished by how much you can buy. Stock up on snacks or maybe actual meals (that way, you’ll be saving more meals for next week).
- Although the books at the bookstore are quite expensive and obviously you would rather rent than buy one, renting a book can be more expensive than buying a used book because you’ll have to rent that book each semester. Do the math then you’ll realize that buying the used book is much cheaper than renting it.
- Don’t buy your stationary from the bookstore. I personally think that the only things we should buy from our bookstore are used books and clothes. You can get stationary from other stores (Walmart, K-Mart) for less than half the price.

- Don’t waste money on TVs. You can watch anything on your laptops. You probably won’t even use the TV much. Moreover, please buy your fridge and wall mirror from the Coop. You’ll be surprised at the high quality and low price of all the goods available at the Coop.
- Try not to take your debit/credit card with you everywhere. Use cash instead of cards. I personally believe that we realize the value of cash because it is taken away from us when we buy something whereas a card stays with us. Don’t forget to use those coins too. (I have literally hundreds of coins right now!)
- Some of my friends and I filled our cards with more than $75 worth of Bantam Bucks under the assumption that we’d use this money to do laundry for the entire semester. Well, that didn’t work out so well. I ended up using my Bantam Bucks at Cave, The Bistro and of course to do laundry too. You will be tempted to use your Bantam Bucks if you know you have loads of them. Now I only deposit money in my Trinity Card when I’m about to do laundry. That way, when I’m done, I’m left with a few dollars’ worth of Bantam Bucks which I cannot possibly use anywhere else.
- You don’t need to go to the fanciest restaurants. Trinity has dozens of acclaimed and diverse restaurants and cafes around it. Not only is the food quite reasonable, but one can experience another culture’s cuisine.
- Take advantage of the Trinity Shuttle Service. Who needs an Uber or Taxi when Trinity can take you to the Mall, Marshalls, Blue Back Square and so many other places for FREE! The Shuttle runs almost every hour in the afternoon so use it!

- Try to share appliances, vacuum cleaners, books and stationary with your roommates and friends. All 4 roomies in a quad could pitch in to buy a fridge, microwave or a vacuum cleaner. Not only does it breed a certain sort of comradeship but it’s much cheaper to share.
- Do your own threading, shaving and sewing. It will save you a LOT OF MONEY. Use YouTube tutorials for help.
