Budapest is a city filled with rich culture through its historic architecture and famous bridges, to its thermal baths, and beautiful opera house. The Hungarian culture can be experienced through amazing restaurants, boat rides, and classic sights such as Hero Square and the Parliament building. While touring the famous sights is fun, most of it cannot be achieved without the help of a little coffee to start things off, but why stop there? Why not tour the city, and drink coffee at the same time? Here are some coffee shops located throughout the city for the ultimate Budapest coffee crawl experience.

1. Törökméz (aka Turkish Honey)

Törökméz is located near Margit Island, a small coffee shop with adorable honey bee decor, serving one of their famous blue lattes. The coffee shop offers amazing breakfasts all day long, as well as a wonderful selection of French baked goods. This bright little coffee shop is the best place to serve their blue lattes and mixed match cheese platters.

2. Smúz

Smúz is a coffee shop located by the famous Parliament building in Budapest, it sells both coffee and wine on one side, and beautiful flowers on the other. It's the perfect place to drink coffee with an amazing view, there is nothing quite like sipping a red velvet latte and gazing up at the historical Parliament building to help you soak in the Hungarian culture.

3. Budapest Baristas

Across the street from one of Budapest's well-known Universities, ELTE, it is the perfect hub for college students and anyone looking to catch up on work or read a good book. With sweet and salty treats and good coffee, it's the perfect pit stop for a study break or to try their lovely matcha lattes.

4. Madal Cafe

If you're looking for some peace and tranquility Madal is the place to go, with its beautiful white aesthetic and calming music, Madal has the perfect relaxation atmosphere. With three different locations in Budapest, it's the perfect pit stop from any part of town. One of the locations offers both coffee on one side, and pasta dishes on the other. If you're looking for a coffee shop to meet up with friends, Madal has the perfect space for gatherings.

5. Fekete (Black)

Much like its name, Fekete is all about rich dark coffee as well as other delicious coffees. If you're too cool for school and want to meet up with your cool friends to catch up on all things coffee, Fekete is the perfect place to experience the new wave of coffee culture. With its beautiful courtyard seating and exposed coffee bar, the hipster vibes are strong at this little coffee shop.

6. Kontakt


For all the cold brew fans out there Kontak is the place to be, and to experience their "Rocket cold brew" which is perfect for a hot summer day. Tucked away down a small alleyway in Budapest, Kontak is a perfect hidden gem for good coffee, good cake, and good company.

7. Warm Cup

Much like its name, Warm Cup serves delicious cups of warm coffee admits all the hustle and bustle of the city. Filled with amazing art and occasional movie showings, Warm Cup is the perfect place for artists and those seeking to perfect their knowledge of coffee. The baristas are very personable and willing to share tips and tricks to how they master their coffee.

8. My Green Cup

Created through the inspiration of another local coffee shop called "My little Melbourne," My Green Cup is located in one of the best districts of Budapest, with gorgeous green lights and a beautiful green coffee machine, My Green Cup is a great pit stop for good quality coffee and a light snack.

9. Double Shot

Not only do they have amazing coffee such as flat white, cortado, and the Chemex, but they have delicious food ranging from avocado toast to homemade quiche. With local owners who have not only handcrafted the coffee but also have handcrafted the interior making it both dog-friendly and hipster friendly.

10. The Goat Herder

The Goat Herder is a friendly little coffee shop amidst another University in Budapest, run by an adorable British couple, it is a home away from home. Chances are you won't only walk away with a great coffee or lemonade, but with new friendships with everyone, there is very personable and warm. Through the beautiful mural on the wall, to the delicious comfort foods, the Goat Herder is the perfect cozy coffee shop.

11. Espresso Embassy

Diggin the espresso life? Wanting a quick burst of energy to kick start your day? The Espresso Embassy has good coffee which includes their amazing filter coffee, as well as delicious baked goods. It is the perfect place for work or a break from work, with its sophisticated atmosphere Espresso Embassy kicks it up a notch with its variety of working people as well as it's quiet atmosphere. Amongst all the embassies in Budapest, the Espresso Embassy is by far the best.
