"I told you not to go in there!"

For some people, a good horror film is one of the greatest pastimes. You can watch these scary movies anytime of the day, and by yourself, without a second thought. I recently read an article about a psychoanalytic theory which says that watching scary movies is a mode of catharsis, as in we watch these daunting films as a way of purging our aggression and emotions. I'm not sure if this theory presents itself in every individual, or we just watch horror movies out of pure enjoyment. Regardless, all I can say is I love scary movies and cannot get enough of them! So I condensed a long list of movies I really like in hopes that you will now have something entertaining to watch this evening!

Enjoy! Bring some friends (and food) along for some good screams!

1. "The Descent" (2005)

Makes you think twice about going on a cave expedition with your best friends.

2. "Silence of the Lambs" (1991)

Have you met my friend Bill? He's single and looking for a curvy woman with moisturized skin to spend his evenings with. His hobbies include sewing and making his own clothes.

3. "Evil Dead" (1981)

It doesn't get any better than a classic!

4. "The Village" (2004)

This movie is considered a drama, mystery and romance, but it's more like a thriller with a twist that's guaranteed to blow your mind! Plus, M. Night Shyamalan was the writer and director, so you can't go wrong!

5. "Alien" (1979)

Sigourney Weaver killed it in this movie! Pun intended!

6. "The Strangers" (2008)

Are you sure you still want to rent out that vacation home in the woods with your boyfriend this summer?

7. "The Collection" (2012)

I know this is the sequel to "The Collector," but I saw this one first and it's good!

8. "Trick 'r Treat" (2007)

This movie used to be on Netflix and it's insane. If you like five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween, this is for you! I'm obsessed with Halloween, so "Trick 'r Treat" was right up my alley.

9. "House of 1,000 Corpses" (2003)

It's just your classic Rob Zombie film featuring his lovely wife Sheri Moon Zombie.

10. "Amityville Horror" (2005)

I'm mainly into this because of Ryan Reynolds, and the fact that this movie scared the life out of me when I was a teenager!

11. "The Conjuring" (2013)

I was surprised how good this movie actually was.

12. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" (1974)

If your girl likes horror movies, never let her go! It doesn't get better than the original.

13. "The Visit" (2015)

It's rated PG-13, but it freaked me out and gave me some good laughs! Not to mention, I had two little girls sitting next to me with their dad in the theater. Not a family movie, Pops!

14. "As Above, So Below" (2014)

Adventurous people in the Catacombs of Paris, France. I swear movies get creepier when you've been where they were filmed.

15. "The Witch" (2015)

It's sad how fast parents accused their children of witchcraft in the early 1600s. Warning: unless you understand Old English, you may not enjoy this movie.

16. "Insidious" (2010)

The first one is the best obviously, but this franchise is extremely thrilling.

17. "Misery" (1990)

Stephen King is literally the king of horror, and Kathy Bates does an incredible job!

18. "Carrie" (1976)

Yet again, the infamous Stephen King! The original is the best!

19. "Pet Sematary" (1989)

Have I mentioned how great Stephen King is? Or how I highly recommend reading his books?!

20. "Jaws" (1975)

This one is jaw-dropping!

21. "Donnie Darko" (2001)

My high school AP Psychology class watched this movie. Can you figure out why?

22. "The Omen" (1976)

Something about this boy isn't quite right.

In case you only have Netflix at your disposal, here are some creepy movies to devour:

1. "Halloween" (1978)

This was the first horror movie I ever watched—or half watched—with my eyes looking down almost the entire time.

2. "Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984)

Just in case you thought your dreams were safe.

3. "The Shining" (1980)

Stephen King! A classic must-watch.

4. "The Taking of Deborah Logan" (2014)

I probably made every friend I know over the past summer watch this with me. It's so creepy and goes in a direction I didn't expect!

5. "Dead Silence" (2007)

Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children only dolls.

6. "Children of the Corn" (1984)

After the first time I watched this, I went to Applebee's with my family. I went to the restroom and as I opened the door to leave, there was a child right outside the door! I jumped and hightailed it back to the booth!

7. "Stonehearst Asylum" (2014)

It's not too scary, but super interesting and worth the watch!

8. "Creep" (2014)

This movie is super strange, and shot in first person (which isn't my favorite), but the title does not disappoint.

9. "The Exorcist" (1973)

These older films may be more funny than they are scary, but they are still golden movies!

And here are some absurd "scary" movies to revel in with your wimpy friends:

1. "Tucker and Dale vs. Evil" (2010)

This one is absolutely hilarious! And it's on Netflix!

2. "Shaun of the Dead" (2004)

This zombie apocalypse might not be that bad!

3. "Zombieland" (2009)

You too, can survive a zombie apocalypse if you abide by a list of survival rules and strategies.

I know I missed so many great films! Alas, I hope I could entertain you and entice you to watch something you haven't seen before! Goodnight and sleep tight! Don't let the boogey man bite!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
