Why Brunch Is Perfect For Any Occasion: From Breakups To Makeups

We've all seen the classic makeups and breakups on The Hills over brunch. Whether it was Heidi and Lauren making up after a fight from the bar the night before or Audrina and Justin Bobby breaking up due to his bad boy ways. These iconic moments always happened over some mimosas and untouched huevos rancheros, am I right?

Why Brunch Is Perfect For Any Occasion: From Breakups To Makeups

When there is an issue, what better way to resolve or dissolve your problems than over some food, or better yet brunch? Brunches classically take place on the weekend. Therefore, the Friday night cheating of a significant other, Saturday night bar fight, or long week of annoying roommates can easily be discussed over this meal. I'd like to say the truth always comes out over some pancakes and an alcoholic beverage.

The brunch environment is welcoming and can make things less stressful. At most brunch spots, one can find many tables packed into an area, making conversations an open forum from table to table. This sets up brunch as a great place for your breakup. You have a family of four next to you? Definitely cannot raise your voice, and he or she cannot start sobbing (well, hopefully). The closeness and intertwining of tables results in low volume conversations, which is needed for a makeup or breakup. You definitely don't want to hear the couple behind you fighting over who slept with who, or the best friends arguing over clothes on your Sunday morning.

The brunch menu is always light-hearted, from pancakes and French toast, to sunny-side-up eggs, or even a burger. There are no fancy things that require a translator, and with a less intimidating menu you can skip over the small talk since you probably already know what you are getting. Brunch also has the wonderful addition of alcoholic beverages, allowing you to take some stress off with a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, whereas ordering a glass (or bottle) of Red Wine at dinner could increase the tension and stress. You cannot forget that with the constant interruption of the server, even the biggest arguments are given a pause, making restaurants a great spot for confrontation.

With brunch typically starting around 10 a.m. and going until 3 p.m., this gives one ample time to sleep in and rehearse what they plan on saying in the car ride there. For a breakup, this lengthy time can help you because you have places to go, people to see; you don't have time to sit back and share waffles. But this time can also allow you to linger. You just made up with your best friend? Well now you have to stay for one (or two) more mimosas to catch up on all the things you have missed. As for dinner, you have an entire day to plan or even cancel your reservation. As the day goes on you may start rethinking this once good idea to sit down and makeup or breakup. With brunch, you are only given a time slot from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., so there's no way going around it and you know it needs to happen.

Because brunch is during the day, it allows for great outdoor seating in the summer, making the vibes less stressful with the calm summer breeze. This is ideal for people watching when distractions are needed, and you can even wear sunglasses to mask the awkward eye contact or tears that may occur. The dark lighting at dinner can make the most awkward confrontations intimate. If you were breaking up with someone, going back to a lonely apartment after dinner might not be fun, but after brunch you could go on a shopping spree or nice run.

Dinner, I must add, has more pressure than brunch. Dinner requires more thought on what to wear, how your hair looks, lipstick or no? Brunch attire does not require the latest styles and trends. With this laid back, typically night before make-up, there is no stress on which skinny jeans and wedges to wear. Making up with your friend or boyfriend, they've most likely seen you at your worst, so they don't need to see you at your brunch best.

Now, if you are breaking up with someone, you may go for the trendy brunch look to really show them what they are missing, and in that case, the options for outfits are endless. Confrontation, whether it is a makeup or breakup, is never fun. Emotions are put on the table, and feelings can be hurt. With some smooth jazz, Mimosas in hand, and a delicious meal, you can't help but relax in the most nerve-racking situation. As John Mayer would say, “It's better to say too much than never say what you need to say again" (over brunch).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
