Let’s talk about brunch, the eighth wonder of the world, a gift from above, and the best meal to exist on this planet. It's the ultimate mashup of meals with mind-blowingly delicious food and alcohol to boot (if you’re over 21 that is). Brunch is the only reason we have to get out of bed on a Saturday, and it’s a damn good one. Brunch is sweet and savory and everything you’d ever want in life. Getting up for brunch is honestly equivalent to getting up on Christmas morning (that may have been a bit dramatic, but you catch my drift).
Let me stop gushing about why I love brunch so much and get to what we're all here for: the brunch scene at Stonehill. You’re in luck because Stonehill has three great options where students can get brunch: the cafeteria, Stonebridge cafe, and The Farmer's Daughter.
1. The Cafeteria
Let’s start by covering the cafeteria, an option for students that’s directly on campus. Served on Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m, it is truly a blessing to be able to roll out of bed mid-afternoon, if you want to, and get a delicious meal. There are four stations where you can get waffles, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, and pancakes. There’s also fruit and yogurt as a side and bagels and other sweets at the bakery. Crowd favorites include the omelet and breakfast sandwich station so the lines can get a little lengthy, but they're definitely worth the wait.
2. Stonebridge Cafe
Stonebridge Cafe is located in Brockton, down the street from Stonehill’s campus and is only a short walk (and an even shorter drive). Stonebridge serves breakfast all day, as well as lunch. It’s open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The food at Stonebridge is absolutely delicious (if you want to check out the options, visit their menu here). There’s nothing more Stonehill than the Stonebridge challenge. The Stonebridge challenge consists of staying up all night and getting to Stonebridge right when they open at 6 a.m. when they supposedly have early bird specials. Not so much of a challenge, but it’s super fun and so worth it.
3. The Farmer’s Daughter
The Farmer’s Daughter, located in Easton, serves Farm-to-table, fresh, local food made with sustainable ingredients, serving both breakfast and lunch. The Phantom Gourmet featured the restaurant on their show saying, “If you're not starting your day at The Farmer's Daughter, you might as well stay in bed.” With it’s rustic wooden interior and full wall-chalk boards, The Farmer’s daughter creates an intimate and cozy experience for brunch goers. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so it’s a good idea to get there early to avoid the usual crowds and long waits. If you end up having to wait, it will be totally worth it. Iced coffee served in mason jars as well as the handwritten chalk menu on the walls makes the restaurant a trendy spot. It even has a breakfast sandwich named “The Stonehill," which I personally recommend.
Ugh, is it time for brunch yet?
