Thank you for being my biggest supporter.
Whether it was a stupid decision I was making or a sport that I had no business trying to play, you were always there when I needed you, especially when Mom and Dad didn’t know what to say. You were the reason I never gave up. When I felt like everything and everyone was against me, I knew you weren’t. And that support has taken me to amazing places and given me the opportunity to make wonderful memories.
Thank you for never judging me.
Even if it was the simplest thing, like making a pizza at 3 a.m., you always made it sound like I came up with best idea in the world. If I started crying over something that was completely stupid, you stopped the sky from falling and brought me back to reality, with only a few kind words.
Thank you for always looking up to me.
Making good decisions is so much easier when you know there’s another person who will do what you do, good or bad. If I am about to do something I would never want you to repeat, that’s the ultimate sign I should not be doing it.
Thank you for coming back even when I push you away.
Even if I tell you a thousand times to go away when I’m crying in my room, each time you come back reminds me that someone cares. You never hold a grudge when I say something completely out of line because you know I didn’t mean it. And when I’m ready to talk, thank you for always listening, even if I’m making absolutely no sense.
Thank you for asking about me (and not believing the simple response).
Just when I don’t think I have anyone who’ll listen to me and who actually cares about the details of my life, you always bug me to tell you everything, gory details and all.
Thank you for knowing when to leave me alone and when not to.
Yes, the truth is that you do piss me off. A lot. But I wouldn’t be prepared for all those people out in the world who are on a mission to bring me down. Pushing all those buttons at all the wrong times on purpose has taught me how to handle things when I’m at my breaking point.
Thank you for always being on my side.
No matter if you know I’m wrong or that you’ll get in more trouble with Mom and Dad by going along with me, you are always right there behind me, backing me up. You’re my ultimate partner in crime, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you for being you.
Since the beginning, you have taught me what a best friend is and how I deserve to be treated. You’ll always be my little brother, even if you’re bigger than me.
