Why Brookfest Wasn't What I Expected

Brookfest, to anyone reading this who isn't a Seawolf, is this concert USG puts together. This year's line-up was Joey Basa$$, Alice Wonderland, And DNCE. (also some student openers: Chris Chan and Louis something).

Let me start with the whole "Tickets must match IDs" statement. They weren't checking IDs AT ALL. Why the unnecessary stress?

Once we got through security, where they just did the normal checking of bags. Which clearly they didn't do well enough because after the concert you could see small bottles of alcohol on the floor, also the fact that someone started smoking legit three people away from me (which I will get back too).

I had bought a section A ticket, and so my friend and I went to the designated area. Twenty minutes later, yes twenty, a girl starts puking. Now I know people pre-game, but seriously it's one in the afternoon girl; get it together. So her friends don't escort her out or at least out of the freaking crowded area, no they just let her puke in a plastic bag, which they probably had because they were worried this was going to happen. But no no they let her stay, and then she started to PROJECTILE vomit! It was green and smelly; yeah, they were escorted out by security.

So at this point, the left side of A section was smelling, so a friend and I decided to get away and we went to get food. There was a lack of food for halal/vegetarians btw, (besides the point). So I got a text from my friend saying they're in the right section. Naturally, I end up on the right side of said section.

Once I was finally there some people started to push and shove their way to the front. Not cool people. There was already like no room for me to breathe and you're trying to shive yourself all up against me. STOP. They managed to get themselves to the front btw... rude. Leaving me and the others who came on time to have no space. I know it's a concert and you're going to be stuck together but I DIDN"T HAVE ROOM TO EVEN PUT MY HANDS UP. There was a stranger behind me, who was significantly taller than my 5ft 2 inches self. AND IT WAS SOOO AWK, because I couldn't ask him to move because said rude a** b** TOOK ALL THE SPACEEE. AND THEY DIDN"T EVEN SMELL NICE. No no, they smelled like b.o, the kind of b.o someone who doesn't shower has. PLEASE, do everyone in your life a favor and make friends with a shower.

As for the smoking three people away from me, someone lit a joint three people away from me. GREAT BAG CHECK. MY PHONE AND WALLET REALLY NEEDED TO BE CHECKED CLEARLY.

Then there was the fact they let the B and C groups come into the A section. Honestly, I didn't mind, we had more room. I just wish they could have made it all the same price and first come first serve to get spots.

Other than those negative points, DNCE was amazing. So were Alice Wonderland and Joey Bada$$ but since I'm not really into them I don't think I'm qualified to comment on them. But middle school Rubbia's dream of seeing Joe Jonas in person was fufflied and honestly it was worth the whole journey to get there. But DNCE is not only cool because of their lead singer, the other band mates are seriously talented. The bass player had so much energy .

So that was my commentary on Brookfest. I reccommed everyone to go any of the USG concerts; they are a memory waiting to happen.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
