Dear Brock Turner,
How does it feel to be the biggest wimp in the country right now? It must be nice to have daddy come to the rescue because you are not enough of a man to admit your wrongdoing. You knew you raped that woman and you chose to blame your teammates for introducing you to the partying lifestyle. Wake up kid. It is no one else’s fault but yours. If someone told you to go rape someone, and you couldn’t say no, then it seems like there’s an insecurity issue there among many others. So now, you have made a beautiful and innocent woman insecure for the rest of her life. You and daddy are too concerned about the effects of the consequences of being a rapist to even consider how you negatively affected the life of a woman forever. According to her boyfriend, she has trouble sleeping alone with the lights off and cries for hours at a time. She missed months of work because of you. Her life is forever changed because of your actions.
You are a sick boy and so is your father for defending you the way he did. I get that every parent wants to believe their kid can do no wrong, but you clearly were wrong. In your dad’s defense realizing that your son raped a woman is hard to swallow. However, he could have taken some time to accept that you have committed a crime and, like any rational father, made you accept the consequences and work with you to become a better person. Instead, he wrote a letter about how you are depressed because of the “harsh” consequences “for only twenty minutes of action”. That was extremely disgusting to read. You have two other siblings, one being a sister. What if she was raped? Your family would sue the rapist for all he would be worth in that situation. I know it is hard to accept that any one of your loved ones have done something wrong, but what your dad and mom should be doing is forcing you to accept years behind bars and helping you become a healthy person. Instead, they are choosing to make national fools of themselves by providing America with an example of how not to parent your children.
Brock, if you had dreams of having a family you can kiss them goodbye along with your swimming career. The disgusting behavior of not only you, but also your father has made you (and him) one of the most hated people in this country right now. In a few years this story will no longer be shared all over FaceBook or talked about daily on the news however, that does not mean you will ever be off the hook. It’s pretty safe to say that no woman will ever want to come near you. Your name and face will forever be remembered and you will forever be known as the rapist from Stanford who was too much of a baby to own up to what he did. The fact that your dad wrote an absolutely disgusting letter shows that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You may only have 3-6 months in prison, but you now have a lonely life.
