I have recently gotten back into reading for fun again. I think a lot of us start out reading for fun when we're young because that's what we do at school (at least that's how it was for me). Then, as we grow older, we are told what books we have to read, which evidently makes us hate reading. We end up forgetting how much we enjoyed reading books before we were forced to read something.
I remember all the books I used to read — mysteries, drama, comedies, etc — and I often recall how engrossed I became in a book that I truly enjoyed. When we have the option to choose books based on our interests, it makes the reading a lot more fun. The awesome part about reading is that even if you're reading a genre you love or reading about your favorite subject, you're still learning.
Books are a great way to stimulate the brain waves and learn new things! I have missed reading, and I never really noticed until I picked up a book that I wanted to read. Of course, sometimes it's hard to find the time to read between school work, and extracurriculars while I'm at school, but summer is the best time to start. Picking out a book for the summer is the perfect way to keep the mind activity even while you're on summer vacation.
Go out and find a book that really speaks to you and seems super interesting. You never know how much you'll love it until you start reading. Maybe, even starting up the habit of reading again will you give you a way to relax and get away from the reality of the world. Let the words take you away into a different world.
