Any child from the 90’s or the 2000’s knows how on point the original Disney channel and Disney channel movies were. Today’s Disney channel is just not the same as the good ole days. Coming home from a long day of elementary school or middle school was not complete without some Disney channel. Just when you thought the movies and the shows could not get any better they would hit a home run with a new movie. So here are some classic Disney channel original movies for nice throwback.
Wish Upon a Star (1996)
Wish Upon a Star is a story about two sisters who switch bodies due to younger sister wishing to be her older sister. The movie is a little mature compared to other Disney channel movies; but it very funny. If you want to re watch it is on Netflix, I have only watched it 3 or 4 times.
Brink! (1998)
Brink is about an in-line skating team’s battle to win a skating competition against other team. Brink brought us a Disney channel heart throb with Erik von Detten. Everyone wanted to in-line skate after this movie and I am sure a few teams were evolved due to this movie.
Halloweentown (1998)
Halloweentown is one of the most popular Disney channel movies. What is better than witches, brooms, a cute little girl, a rebellious teen, an evil warlock, and cool creatures? You are probably lying if you say you do not watch Halloweentown at least once a year.
Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (1999)
Zenon was probably every girl’s idol back in the 90’s. Zenon was the coolest because she was out of space and helped save her station from evil. Zenon was so good that Disney channel made two more Zenon movies made.
The Thirteenth Year (1999)
The Thirteenth Year not only brought another heartthrob but also brought mermaids or mermen to life. Chez Starbuck was such a cutie! After the movie was released the age 13 was wanted by every 12 and under and being a mermaid or merman was on many kid’s wish list.
Smart House (1999)
Smart House showed us what the future had in store for us. The house was pretty perfect; well expect for the crazy robot that toke care of the house. We all kind of wished that we had that house even for a week.
Johnny Tsunami (1999)
Johnny Tsunami was the total surfer movie. The movie was super chill and full of good vibes. The movie definitely had some kids wanting to get into surfing.
Up, Up, and Away (2000)
Up, Up, and Away was the first superhero that Disney channel made. The customs were a little much but the movie was great. Who would not want to be a part of a super hero family?
Quints ( 2000)
The Quints was easily relatable for many older siblings. Granted most older siblings do not have five younger siblings that are all born at one time. Jamie definitely had a lot to deal with and her parents were very dependable on her.
Motocrossed (2001)
Motorcrossed was all about girl power and how girls could do anything boys could do. Andy became many girls role model and was a total rock star on the motor cross bike.
The Luck of the Irish (2001)
The Luck of the Irish is one of the most popular Disney channel movie. The Luck of the Irish is one of the few St. Patrick day movies. Disney channel brought a new holiday movie and another heart throb. The movie had many great characters and an even better plot.
Double Teamed ( 2002)
Double Teamed is a story about twin sisters playing high school basketball at a new school. Double Teamed made many want to have a twin to conquer the world with and to have killer moves on the basketball court. Then again we all cannot be super tall and have mad moves on the court.
Cadet Kelly (2002)
Cadet Kelly is another popular Disney channel movie. The all-star cast made the movie that much better. Hilary Duff and Christy Carlson Romano did a fantastic job and both blew up after the movie. Military school did not sound so bad after Cadet Kelly came out. Plus the boy that they fought over was another Disney channel heartthrob.
These are just a few of all the amazing and classic Disney channel movies. Whenever a true, original movie is on it is always a great day.
