This is actually the second time I get to review an artist thanks to Universal Music Group, so shoutout to them for the awesome opportunity yet again! This week, I get to review Kacy Hill and her new music video, "Lion." You can check out her new video with the link I have provided below:
So Who Is Kacy Hill?
I'll be very honest to my readers: I had no idea who Kacy Hill was until I started doing research for this article. But hey, you learn something new every day. Kacy Hill started off as a model at the age of 16, which eventually would lead her becoming the leading advertising figure for American Apparel. It is important to note that modeling was really something she was not passionate about. After meeting a director that would help her release her first non-album single, her music career officially began with "Experience," which was released during the beginning of the 2013-2014, while on "The Yeezus Tour" with Kanye West. After hearing the song, Kanye West immediately signed Hill to the GOOD Music Label, and the rest is history.
What Do I Think Of Kacy Hill?
As I said before, I had no idea who Kacy Hill was prior to writing this article, which in response led to me doing significant amounts of research before writing this article. My conclusion of Kacy Hill is that she is definitely someone you need to watch over the next couple of years. All of the unique sounds in her new song "Lion" definitely can give away her affiliation with the GOOD Music Label, but this also gives her a very unique sound identity. If you are confused with what I am trying to say, let me spell it out to you in plain English. She has a very unique sound, and it's something that I have never heard before, but you have a strange feeling she's one of Kanye's artists when you hear her stuff for the first time.
What Do I Think Of The New Song?
I am still trying to figure out what my opinion of this song "Lion" should be. Do I hate the song? No. Do I love the song? Debatable. It's kind of confusing to build an opinion around a new artist like this because I am honestly not sure what to think of her, which is not a bad thing, by the way. I do think that she can have a huge cult following in the upcoming years if she starts collaborating with bigger artists that push her through the envelope.
The Verdict?
You may or may not like Kacy Hill after listening to her new song, but one thing is for certain. She is bound to have a big career in the upcoming years and we will be here to watch it unfold. Make sure to follow Kacy Hill on all social media (@kacyhill) and don't forget to preview her new video, "Lion!"
