How Breakaway Ministries Changed My Life And Why You Should Let It Change Yours

Coming into college was a very scary time in my life. College is an incredible time of spiritual growth for so many people and that was something that I wanted to be a part of. Our God is so faithful and he knew exactly where I needed to be and he made sure that I was there and I hope this story inspires you to allow God to place you where you need to be.

I had heard all of the statistics about how many people fall away from the church during their time in college and that really scared me. I am incredibly thankful for the ministry on the campus of Texas A&M that is IMPACT.

IMPACT is changing the lives of freshmen in Bryan and College Station and I am so Glad that I have been able to see the fruits of that ministry first hand. While IMPACT did change my life this is the story of how Breakaway has changed my life during my time at Texas A&M University.

Breakaway Ministries is a weekly bible study held on the campus of Texas A&M University that aims to allow everyone grow in their relationship with Christ. I had heard about Breakaway from my IMPACT counselors before coming to A&M and I was curious about what it was.

I decided to attend the first Breakaway with my IMPACT camp and I knew that I was supposed to be there as soon as I walked in. I had never before in my life seen a single place that was so full of people that seemed so passionate about Jesus and worshipping him. I was so in awe of the pure passion and joy that I experienced and saw that Tuesday in Reed Arena that I decided to come back and since then I have only missed one Breakaway.

Breakaway has inspired me to worship with more passion than I ever have in my life. I have discovered a love for worshiping Jesus with the people that I love that I didn’t even know that I had. I have never doubted that Texas A&M is the place that where I am supposed to be attending college and I am reminded of how faithful God is every single Tuesday night.

I have seen the way God speaks through Breakaway to thousands of Aggies every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. and I am so glad to be able to see this first hand. God loves you and has a desire to be in a personal relationship with you and Breakaway can help you get closer to God because it did exactly that for me.

Breakaway’s mission is to be a place where any and every Aggie can come and either take their first step or their next step with Jesus. Breakaway isn’t a place only for Christians it is a place for everyone. Everyone is welcome at Breakaway. I encourage you to let God show you who he is and Breakaway is a great place to do that.

At the last Breakaway of every semester, TA (Timothy Ateek, the director of Breakaway) asks everyone who has given their life or rededicated their life to Christ in the past semester to stand up. The crowd always erupts and then it is amazing to see the number of people that stand up. Breakaway has been instrumental in my growing up to this point in my college career and I hope that you get to experience the ways that God is moving in College Station.

There are incredible volunteers at breakaway that are some of the friendliest people that I know and they would love for you to reach out to them. If you are at all curious about Breakaway feel free to contact any Breakaway volunteer or come out to Reed Arena at 9 p.m. on Tuesday to see what it’s all about. Hope to see y’all on Tuesday night!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
