Throughout every girls life, we hear the phrase "Boys will be boys." Yet when did boys get an excuse for some of the things they do just because they are boys? You do not however, hear the phrase "Girls will be girls."

It all starts in pre-school, when children are playing on the playground outside at recess and a boy pushes a girl a little too hard. Causing her to get knocked down, with tears streaming down her face. The teacher walks up to her, brushes the mulch off of her scraped knee's and says

"Boys will be boys."

In that moment, the boy's actions became justified because he was simply a boy. He was never disciplined or punished for his wrong doings, instead he was let off the hook.

In an elementary school gym class, the boys are picked as captains. Therefor enabling them to pick their own teams, leaving nothing but the girls left in order for the coach to distribute them evenly to the boy's teams because they didn't want to pick. Not only did the boy's never pick the girls, but once they started playing; they refused to pass or include the girls in any of it. When a few girls have had enough of this nonsense and they approach the teacher, his response

"Boys will be boys."

Next you have middle school. Now for anyone who hasn't experienced middle school, it is probably the worst three years of anyone's life. Not only do you go through an awkward stage of your life, but everyone judges you for it. The girls are much meaner than the boys and far more judgmental. However, when girls call other girls names or are mean to one another, it was not acceptable. Yet when boy's argue and get into brawls over who had the video game first, the only explanation behind it is

"Boys will be boys."

Moving on to high school the actions of the boys became more justified yet the actions were only getting worse. Boys could be not only verbally abusive but physically as well and the only reason is because

"Boys will be boys."

When did the phrase "Boys will be boys" suddenly be the explanation behind every unjustifiable actions that boys will ever do. So stop saying "Boys will be boys" because not only is it unfair to the helpless girls out there, looking for a legitimate explanation behind some things, but also to the boys who do not fall into the stereotype. Instead of using one sentence, actually let them know that what they are doing is not okay. It's not okay to hit girls as a sign of flirting because "Boys will be boys." It's not okay, so stop saying "Boys will be boys."

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
