No matter what decade you grew up in, one thing is for sure, there were boy bands, and every girl had her favorite one. Of course, the sounds have changed, but they have similar characteristics. They're super cute, have smooth vocals, and they possess that star quality that makes you wish you could hang with them 24/7.
Let's look back at some popular bands that we all know and love:
The Jackson Five
Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito, and Jackie Jackson, sang and danced their way into our hearts, with smooth songs that you couldn't help but sing along to. They were undoubtedly one of Motown's best acts. Some of their top singles were "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save," and "I'll Be There."
New Edition
New Edition originated in Boston during the early 80s. Their original members were Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Bobby Brown, Ronnie DeVoe, and Ralph Tresvant. Some of their top songs were early hits, included "Candy Girl," "Cool It Now," and "Mr. Telephone Man." Later on, when Bobby Brown left the group, Johnny Gill replaced him. The group Bel Biv Devoe also stemmed from New Edition.
Boyz II Men
Originally, Boyz II Men was a quartet composed of Michael McCary, Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, and Shawn Stockman. Unfortunately, Michael left the group due to illness and eventually passed away. The group continued to achieve much success with singles like "End Of The Road," which topped the charts in 1992. Boyz II Men are still going strong and touring.
NSYNC
JustiN, ChriS, JoeY, JasoN, and JC. Did you know, that's how they got their name? Yeah, me neither, but how awesome is that!? Although they had a rocky start, they ended up being a household name in the 90s. Their album, "No Strings Attached," showed just how much talent and star power they really had. Not to mention, they gave us Justin Timberlake. Some of their most popular tracks included "Bye Bye Bye," "Pop," and more.
B2K
What does it stand for? Who knows! What I do know is that their songs were played around my house ALL of the time, and my sister and cousins definitely argued over who had who! Although they didn't have as long of a run as some of the other groups, they still had a lot of success and a humongous fan-base. Their breakthrough hit was "Uh Huh."
The Jonas Brothers
"I'm hot, you're cold, you go around like you know...." You sang that in your head reading it, didn't you? "Burning Up," was one of the Jonas Brother's biggest hits. They originally got a kick start on Radio Disney with their song "S.O.S.," and since then, they've always had a squeaky clean image. These boys sang and played, it seemed like almost every instrument, and they had countless hits that every girl from ages five to 25 probably knew.
One Direction
They sing, they play, they're British, what more can you ask for? They started on "X Factor," and the rest is history, literally, check the charts. Even though Zayn is no longer with the band, (tears) they're still some talented guys, and I'm sure they'll continue to have much success in the future. Some of their most popular songs have been, "What Makes You Beautiful," "Night Changes," and "Story of My Life."
