You Know You’re from Boston when during the Christmas Season…
It’s December 10 and you are wondering why there isn’t already 3 feet of snow on the ground.
What’s winter without snow? There is no such thing as a non-white Christmas in Boston, so you know you will have at least one snow storm before the big day.
You see at least one person wearing a Patriots Santa Hat every time you go out.
If Boston fans are one thing, it’s loyal, and our loyalty to our sports teams doesn’t halt during the holiday season. It seems almost un-American to not expect to see many a person wearing a Santa Hat decorated with one of the Boston sports teams on it.
You have not one, not two, but at least three different winter jackets, and at least one pair of Bean boots.
It’s freaking cold here, and we always have to be prepared. Therefore we have winter jackets with varying heaviness, so we can be dressed appropriately whether the weather is 30 degrees, or negative 30 plus a wind chill.
You can’t wait until Frog Pond opens so you can go skating.
Hands down the best part of the holidays – digging out your old pair of skates from your garage, and skating round and round in circles until it gets dark out, and then skating some more.
You are even more excited for the Christmas Tree lighting on the Common.
The staple of Boston during Christmas, this beauty never fails to disappoint, decked out in thousands of lights. It almost gets more beautiful every time you see it.
Its early December and you already have about 80 tags on your ski jacket from the different mountains you have been skiing on.
There are so many mountains around, how can you not participate in some kind of snowy fun? Skiing, snowboarding, tubing – there has to be a mountain within an hour from your house where you can have a grand old time.
La Sollete Shrine is on your must do list every year.
No explanation needed.
Going to the Cape to see the dunes covered in snow is also on that list.
Because is it really Christmas if you haven’t been to the beach? Or if you haven’t been threatened to be thrown in the water at least once?
You already have at least one trip planned to go to Mikes and get Cannoli and Hot Chocolate.
If you think the Cannoli is to die for, have you tried the hot chocolate? It is almost up to par with Dunks.
Your go to Christmas gift is a gift card to Dunks, because you know everyone will love it.
Because Dunks is God’s gift to New England, we must return the favor by endowing everyone we know with at least one gift card.
You are beginning to prep for the Patriots to win the Superbowl, again.
Because we all are just too dang excited to wait and get ready at an actual appropriate time.
