Dear Friends,

Summer is here and I'm living for it. Today I'm going to give you some ideas for you to have in case you come across those summer days with nothing to do. Enjoy!

1. Take a day trip to the beach.

2. Have a picnic in the park.

3. Go somewhere new to eat!

4. Take a group of friends on a hiking trip.

5. Go to the drive-in one night.

6. Have a movie marathon with that special someone.

7. Pull an all nighter with some friends.

8. Take a day trip to the city.

9. Plan a shopping spree with your best friend.

10. Go to a 24 hour diner at 1 AM.

11. Have a pool party with your friends/family.

12. Sit outside and read a book in the sun.

13. Dedicate a day to beating a new video game you always wanted to play.

14. Get a pick up game of basketball going at a nearby park.

15. Go to a sporting event! (ex. MLB)

16. Have a bonfire with your friend group from high school.

17. Have a photoshoot somewhere you've never been to.

18. Get a backyard football game going on at your house.

19. Visit some friends from college.

20. Get a job! (Ew)

21. Clean out your room and get rid of things you DEFINITELY do not need.

22. Go to an ice cream shop during a sunny afternoon.

23. Go see a community theatre show near you!

24. Try to pick up a new hobby you've always wanted to try.

25. Go out for a family dinner.

26. Host a Christmas in July party (and invite me please).

27. Pick up some babysitting gigs for that extra cash.

28. Put together a yard sale for all that crap you don't need anymore.

29. Go for a drive with no real destination.

30. Do a random YouTube challenge with your friends.

31. Do something for your community!

32. Visit your grandparents (they might make you food).

33. Get an RV and go on a road trip.

34. Take a bubble bath because you can.

35. Literally anything else I didn't put on this list because summer is short and it will be gone before you know it.

I hope you all have a beautiful summer and that you all make some great memories. Summer is a time of relaxation and friends and family and good food. Don't put that to waste!

Your Friend,

Al

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
