To My Books Over Summer Vacation

Books are a staple of my summer vacation and that's not changing any time soon

I've always loved reading books, and it is one of my favorite things to do.

As a literature major, I am doing nothing but reading and writing about what I've read. However, during the school year, I don't have time to read the books that I want. With summer starting, there is one thing that is a staple of every one of my summers: books.

To the books I've wanted to read all year: There is nothing more enjoyable than reading a book when you're relaxed without responsibilities to worry about. There are so many books to read, and there are so many of them that I put off to read until summer, just because I don't have time to devote to a book. I will start at least some of these this summer, but the ones that don't get read will go back to school with me where I might read some, but bring them back home to read next summer.

To the books I own: As someone who enjoys books, there are so many books that I own that I have never read. My goal for every summer is to read all of the books that I own. While this is a goal for every summer, each year I always finish more books on my shelf; it's a work in progress.

To the books I have specifically for summer: Over the summer, I check out books that I have on my "to-read" list. There is always a stack of books next to my bed, one of which is in progress. I will try and finish as many of them as possible.

To the books that aren't quite for fun: During the summer, I actually try and read some books that are relevant to my major. Some of these books aren't super easy to have the motivation to read. Some of them aren't as fun as the other ones, but it's still important to have the knowledge and not just forget everything about my future goals over the summer.

To the books I want to reread: Will I get to them this summer? Probably not, but it's the thought that counts. One day, I will have the time to read all of the books that I want, but this summer might not be that time. When I get to these books is the day that I officially have run out of books to read in my house.

To the books that I never read: I know that I've tried many times to read you, but sometimes there just isn't enough time to finish you. Sometimes, you aren't interesting enough to finish. Whatever the reason is, it's not you, it's me.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
