With the holidays approaching, that means breaks are coming up really soon. Whether it's fall break, Thanksgiving break, or Christmas break, you might find yourself bored. So pick up one of these books and indulge in another world for a little while.

1. Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

This is John Green's latest novel, just released October 10. In this fiction novel, Green took the opportunity to write directly about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - a disease he and many others are no stranger to. The plot follows a sixteen-year-old girl and her pursuit to find a fugitive billionaire.

2. This Darkness Mine by Mindy McGinnis

If you're into super dark and twisted stories, this book is perfect for you. It'll keep you on your toes, and have you anxiously waiting to flip the page. The story follows Sasha Stone, a stereotypical teenage girl, who finds out her life is anything but stereotypical.

3. Far From The Tree by Robin Benway

For the person who loves books that are emotional, heartwarming and family-driven. Far From The Tree follows the lives of three adopted siblings who have never met until now. Perfect for fans of This Is Us. The novel was also a finalist in the National Book Awards.

4. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

This dark and twisted novel is about three triplets who are all equal heirs to the crown. They all possess their own kind of magic, and they are all fighting a life or death battle to win the throne. This book is perfect to get you into that Halloween vibe. If you like it, check out the sequel, One Dark Throne which was just released in September.

5. The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee

If you loved Gossip Girl, you'll love this book as well. The setting is Manhattan, 2118. A hundred years into the future. Follow the glitzy and glamorous lives of New York's elite, throughout all of their scandals and secrets. Check out the sequel to this as well, The Dazzling Heights.

6. Replica by Lauren Oliver

Replica is a super cool double narrative book. It's called a flip book, because you need to flip the book to read each narrative. Kind of complicated, but totally worth it. You can read both stories simultaneously, or you can read them separately. Either way it's a really interesting and entertaining read.

7. Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me by Lily Collins

In this essay collection, Lily Collins talks about all the daily struggles that girls deal with every day. For example, body image, confidence issues, relationships, family problems, etc. Collins opens up about her own struggles and relates to her fans with stories of her own.

8. The Art of Feeling by Laura Tims

This novel tells a story of friendship between a girl who feels constant pain and a boy who doesn't feel anything at all. We follow Sam through her struggles with not only recovering from an injury but also a tragedy within her family, while watching Eliot battle his self-destructive tendencies.

9. The Butterfly Garden by Dot Hutchinson

This is a twisty, horror-ish, romance-ish novel from the Collector Trilogy. The story follows a man, "The Gardener," collects young woman and keeps them in his garden. I can't really delve into it without giving away too much, so that's all I'm going to say about it.

The beautiful writing in this novel makes you dive into the world that Popovic has created and makes you never want to leave. The somewhat dark but completely magical plot is only the icing on the cake. The story follows two sisters and their ability to manipulate the beauty around them.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
