As an avid reader, I am always on the look out for new book suggestions. Here are a few that I have read over the years that I think everyone needs to read at least once in their lifetime!
1. "Tell Me Three Things" by Julie Buxbaum
This has been my most recent read, and definitely a worthwhile one! The ending is expected, however you are on edge waiting for it to happen.
2. "Looking For Alaska" by John Green
This is a classic of John Green’s, and you will want to read it over and over again (three times for me, to be exact). Green’s writing is exquisite as always and this book’s story will stay in your heart forever.
3. "Midnight Sun" by Trish Cook
Definitely a tear jerker. Not one to read if you do not want to ruin your makeup, I suppose, but one that every person needs to pick up in their lifetime.
4. "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld
For, lack of a better word, a total cliffhanger. It makes you, in terms of a fellow writer, “upset and triggered.” Thankfully it is a series, so you can continue to fabulous story for longer!
5. "All the Bright Places" by Jennifer Niven
I’ll admit, this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE book. I have read it multiple occasions and cried every time. This book revolves are the topic of mental health and will change your life.
6. "This Is Where It Ends" by Marieke Nijkamp
Another one of my recent reads, Nijkamp has cleverly wrote the novel in four different students’ perspectives while they are in the midst of a school shooting. Intense is an understatement.
7. "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart
I am revolted when I hear about how many people HAVE NOT read this yet! The ending will have your mouth hanging open, and have you wondering why you never assumed it in the first place.
8. "Eleanor and Park" by Rainbow Rowell
A sweet love story about two total opposite, Eleanor and Park. Although it seems typical, throughout the story you will want to jump in the book and give Eleanor a hug. It pulls at your heart is so many different ways.
9. "Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock" by Matthew Quick
This is a chilling insight into the perspective of violent mental illness. Despite the main character’s violence, he is also filled with charm and wit.
10. "13 Reasons Why" by Jay Asher
You have seen the Netflix series. You know what it is about. But to read it, is to have a completely different part of your heart ripped out that the show, in my opinion, does not do.
11. "Every Last Word" by Tamara Ireland Stone
You never know what a person is hiding behind their smile. This book takes a total plot twist at the end that will have you second-guessing everything.
12. "My Heart and Other Black Holes" by Jasmine Warga
For those science/physics lovers, this book is for you. It tackles subjects such as suicide, love, and everything else in between.
13. "Everything, Everything" by Nicola Yoon
Although I have not seen the movie, I have been told the book is much better. And I remember while I read this novel, I (literally) did not get up/stop reading once. I could not put it down, it was that wonderful.
14. "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl" by Jesse Andrews
The awkward high-school you will come out in this book. It is hilariously quirky and incredibly original.
