As an avid book lover, coming to college posed some challenges in reading new books or even making to time to reread some favorites. Despite the added required reading that my courses required, time was managed to be found to read some new books and visit those old ones that have become some of my favorites.

In this list I have included some favorites of mine that I have read while in college. After reading each of these books, I did walk away with new information about God or myself. Anyone considering reading any of these books would receive high encouragement from me!

1. Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers

Though there is much controversy over this book, this story is a lovely depiction of the process of forgiveness and how God is with us through every step.

3. Captivating by John Eldridge and Stasi Eldridge

This husband and wife duo write a wonderful book that breaks down what it truly means to be a woman of God. This book shows readers that not all of us are super girly and how to love and honor God as the woman He made us to be.

4. The Magnolia Story by Chip and Joanna Gaines

This is a book that is told from the perspectives of the HGTV famous couple. It talks about their story of how they met and the process they took of starting their business and family while keeping God at the center of it all.

5. A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers

In this book by Francine Rivers, the author looks at the story of five women in the line of Christ. It is told as a narrative and is meant to fill in the gaps of what could have happened between the lines of what Scripture tells us.

6. The Girl's Still Got It by Liz Curtis Higgs

7. Crazy Love by Francis Chan

8. Bad Girls of the Bible by Liz Curtis Higgs

In this other book by Ms. Higgs, she picks out women from both the Old and New Testament. In the beginning of each chapter, Liz writes a small short story about the women to place the women in a more modern environment. As in the previous book mentioned, these chapters are a commentary as well, so the verses that pertain to their stories are broken down by one verse or even a portion of the verse.

So, if you're looking for your next read try one of these books. I can guarantee that you will learn something from each of these books!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
