As a freshman in college, I find myself easily stress over little things. I'm constantly studying and somehow I find time to eat, hang out with friends, and sleep. Although, Coffee has gotten me through a lot of rough mornings, there is nothing quite like a good book.
Now, I know you are thinking, "Why the heck would I want to read a book, when I'm stressed out?" Well, let me tell you why.
Studies have shown the most significant part in a child's development is introducing them to books early. When parents read to their children each night or on a schedule, they will associate reading with fun. Establishing this will help you to love reading books and make it bearable to read material in years to come.
Not only is it significant in development, but it also helps you to relax. You get to go to this made up place and you can escape from the world. The only problems you have to worry about is if Dorthy is going to make it back home to Kansas or trying to find Waldo in a giant jumble of randomness.
Reading also helps to expand ones knowledge, vocabulary, and memory. Those who read at least a few minutes a day are less likely to develop mental diseases later in life. Which is why a person with history of mental diseases with aging should read as much as they possibly can.
What else can reading do? It can make you more appealing and attractive. I don't know about you, but I definitely don't want to date someone who is not intellectual. Part of connecting with people is sharing interests. Sharing favorite books is a big deal in how people make friends, although most people do not realize this.
