Why There Needs To Be A Body Positive Revolution

In today's society, loving yourself is a rebellious act.

"If tomorrow, women woke up and decided they really liked their bodies, just imagine how many industries would go out of business"

That quote has to be one of the most mind boggling quotes I've ever thought about, and to really think about it is crazy to imagine how many industries would actually go out of business. Today there are hundreds of businesses that advertise items for "fat" reduction such as pills, creams, surgeries, clothes, you name it. There are hundreds places to get implants to add in multiple parts of your body, extensions for eyelashes and even eyebrows, creams for faces and skin that'll make you look like a celebrity and they use celebrities to advertise it hoping you'll think if you use it you'll look like them.

Girls (and guys) I have news for you... STOP STOP STOP!

You are beautiful. Yes, I'm sure you've heard or seen inspirational things like this before that tell you "remember how beautiful you are," but you are!

Billions of people in the world and the strange thing is, it is rare for two people to look the exact same.

So let that sink in... How incredible is it that you are you? Your value does not lie in how your body looks. Love your body, take care of it, and no sorry to the media, but there is and will never be a body type that is "perfect" that we need to have.

That girl that wears size 13 and the girl that wears size 4, you better believe they can both rock the hell out of a black dress and red lipstick. Become your bodies friend, if you want to lose weight lose it for YOU, not for the world; if you want to wear the dress wear the dress for YOU. Whatever you do, do it for your happiness, self-esteem, and the health and love of your body.

Think about when you say to yourself in your head how much you hate your body or wish you looked like "this" or "that", and then imagine if you said those kinds of things to your mom, sister, best friend, or a loved one that they were less of a person because of their weight or lack of curves, or that they can't be loved because they don't look a certain way, but you wouldn't... You would tell them they are beautiful because they are, and so are you.

Curvy, thin, short, tall, plump or not plump lips, long hair, short hair, please remember that there is not one perfect image, because you are all perfect.

Loving yourself is the greatest revolution and rebellious act in today's society.

You are a masterpiece.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
