There was a night not too long ago where I fell asleep in the ocean
I dreamed I was home on a restless summer night
And something made me take a drive
I saw myself barreling down the pitch-black highway, driving with an empty mind
Only thinking about my destination
I parked my car feet away from the sand
Everything was tinted in blue
I walked straight onto the sand, ignoring grains that filled my sneakers
I could feel the temperature drop closer to the water
I climbed onto an lifeguard stand and fixed my eyes on the spot where the blue sky met the blue water
The white moon in the water, wrinkled and moving
Pieces of a liquefied puzzle, shifting out and in
Allowing the ripples to break it and put it back together
Then I was in the water
I shut my eyes and felt the waves rocking my insides
I felt past memories of the sun shining down, warm and welcoming on my skin
Sounds of seagulls, people all around
Looking at orange eyelids
Now it was blue
And the only sound was that of the water
