Blazing Copper Bar & Grill Is A Must

Five Point's newest bar offers a variety of great music, drink specials, pool tables, and food served all night! It is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Blazing Copper Bar & Grill wants everyone to see what they have to offer, as they are one of the few bars in Five Points that has it all.

Located right on Harden Street, across from Pawley’s Front Porch, Blazing Copper has the perfect mix of a friendly staff, drink specials, great food, live music and much more.

Although the establishment that was previously at this location was a country bar, Blazing Copper is not. “We don’t claim to be anything specific. We want everyone to feel welcome here. A lot of places pigeonhole themselves into a certain theme. We are just a casual, comfortable venue where you can be yourself,” says Thomas Coyle who co-owns the bar with his wife Susan.

It is the perfect place to go relax after work or class, to hit some pool balls with friends, or when you head downtown on a busy Thursday and have the urge to sing along to karaoke with friends. With daily drink specials and a more than appetizing bar menu, Blazing Copper is unlike any other bar in Five Points. Special events include live music and they are constantly evolving. Blazing Copper’s website updates their event calendar regularly. The atmosphere is always upbeat and with food offered as long as Blazing Copper is open, those late night munchies can get their fix without ever having to leave the bar!

On a college budget, we’re always looking for cheap beer and drinks, so $1 Busch Lights are offered every night to make the hit softer on your wallet. Other specials include our Traditional $1 beer night every Thursday, where Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite and of course, Busch Light, are all served in an ice cold bottle at the bar. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays the special is $1.50 pints. Fridays and Saturdays have their own drink and shot specials as well.

One of their newest drink specials is their unique “Honey BucketTM”, which includes your choice of six beers and six shots of Jack Honey (hence the name) all for only $18. And like most drink steals at Blazing Copper, the Honey Bucket is available every night of the week. A complete list of their ever-changing and evolving drink specials can be found on their website, so be sure to check it out to see what will be offered the night you go! “We have Tito’s Tuesdays, Wonderful Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Fireball Fridays, and Surfboard Saturdays at the moment but we are always coming up with great ideas for drinks that are easy on your wallet,” says the owner.

But don’t forget about the food served all night. A classic American style bar menu allows for all parties to find something satisfying. Whether you go with the mozzarella sticks appetizer or a classic hamburger, you won’t leave hungry. Food prices are affordable and no entrée is more than $8.50.

Even though weeknights are huge at the University of South Carolina, on weekends when we can’t quite make it to another state to cheer on the Gamecocks, finding a local bar to enjoy the game is a fun event for all students. With numerous 60-inch flat screen TVs scattered throughout the bar, Blazing Copper is the perfect place to watch whatever game you need to see. Whether it’s the Gamecocks away, a professional sporting event, or Sons of Anarchy that you like to watch weekly, the TVs are always on.

Blazing Copper also offers another unique feature in Five Points, an outside bar with a spacious deck. Here customers can step out to watch TV, play beer pong, and enjoy some outdoor air. With the great, vast space that Blazing Copper offers, they’re also available to host private events. Whether it’s a sorority or fraternity function, charity event, percent night or even a birthday celebration, Blazing Copper is happy to offer their space for entertainment. They have a capacity of 300 making them the largest bar venue in Five Points. Contact the management for more information on booking Blazing Copper Bar & Grill.

“My wife Susan books all the private events we host. She is especially sympathetic to the amount of work that a social chairperson has to do to plan the perfect event as she used to be one herself. She goes out of her way to be accommodating so that the process is a little less stressful for them. But we’re not just Greek friendly, we love to support our military men and women as well. We have a number of service men and women in our family, including my oldest son, says Tom.”

18 and up are welcome for all private functions and on certain special event nights as well. Contact the management for more information on booking Blazing Copper Bar & Grill.  You can follow them on Twitter @blazingcopper1, like them on Facebook, or check their website for drink special and event updates.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
