Innocent blood

Hidden in a hole, waiting for the promise their mom and dad made to them,

The promise to come back, for her and her little brother.

They step out, expecting to see the light but saw blood,

Their mom and dad lying dead on the floor, executed by the terrorists.

She was only 12 years old and her brother was five.

They had nothing left but each other.

These terrorists took everything from them, their land,

Their family, everything.

They got captured and treated as slaves.

They went through days of hunger, their owner was so cruel

He would eat in front of them and wouldn’t give them a bit.

They got beaten for disobeying.

Beaten so hard that they got scars that were forever going to last.

Little boy only five, sick and pale, of hunger and tiredness.

Had to watch his sister get abused by their selfish owner.

He tries to stop him, but didn’t have the strength to move.

Tears were rolling down his face.

“Please don't hurt her, please stop.” he says as loud as his thirsty throat would let him.

But their owner didn’t stop.

His sister looks him in the eyes and says;

“Brother it’s okay don’t cry, close your eyes and I promise when you open them it will all be over.”

Little innocent boy so pure hearted does as he was told.

And when he opened his eyes his sister was crawling to him.

He knew she was in pain but she held back her tears.

They held each other as tight as their fragile hands could,

Then he said “Sister I wish we could be with mom and dad again,I wish we could be free.”

As their heart beat slowed down whenever one heart beat went by,

She sung the song their mom use to sing to them, the song of the lost child.

And thus together they rested in peace and found freedom…

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
