Recently I’ve come under a lot of criticism - mainly online - of my faith and my sexuality. Most have been from conservative Christians from an older generation that do not necessarily have the understanding of how our generation of millennial Christians work. I would like to explain it to anyone who has questions about it.
I’m bisexual. This means that I like boys and girls which, in this advanced generation, is not and should not be seen as a terrible idea. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10. Also, Psalm 139: 13-14 states, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
God proves in the Bible that He has made us how we are with His intentions. He knows our story before we do, so who are we to question His works? 1 Corinthians 15:10 says, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect.” I am what I am because of the grace God has given me.
I thank God every day for giving me the wonderful life that I have and for whom He has created me to be. God has loved and created everyone and everything, including LGBT+ people like myself and many friends that I have. Whether I marry a man or a woman will not matter, as I am called to love each and every person.
My husband or wife and I will worship our God and serve Him on earth for all of our days in hopes to glorify Him further because at the end of the road when I stand before Jesus and fall at His feet, my sexuality will not define me. My past sins will not define me. My love for God and for people will define me and that is what matters.
