The day of your birth is most certainly a special day. Birthday parties were always a special occasion to bring friends and family together when in elementary school. The first few years are always celebrated yet, it seems like as we get older, birthdays are not acknowledged as important anymore or may even become taboo to even bring up.
However, every birthday is important and should be acknowledged. The mere fact that you made it another year on this planet, in this lifeform, is something to feel so grateful for. Birthdays are important because, without them, you would not be here.
A birthday isn't just another day; rather, it is an anniversary of the day in which you entered the world, a reminder of the time that you took your first breath of air. This is pretty significant if you take a break and put that into perspective. A birthday serves the purpose of reminding you how precious life is thus, hopefully instilling a deeper sense of appreciation for the time that you have lived and all that you have accomplished so far. A birthday promotes a time of reflection so that you can think about what you have achieved and what direction your life seems to be heading. A birthday is a reminder that time is never guaranteed, so you should rejoice in all that you have already been given.
Not every birthday requires an over-the-top celebration or even a celebration in general; moreover, not every person is open to this idea anyway. Yet, every birthday does require some sort of acknowledgment, something that shows the person that they are being thought of on this day which is partially theirs.
Birthdays give us a reason to show those who are valuable factors within our lives that they are all that and more. This day offers an opportunity to make those people feel cherished, special, appreciated and loved. While we should be reminding these people of their importance and value all throughout the year, their birthday is a great time to make them feel especially valuable.
So the next time that somebody you know has a birthday, please be sure to take even a few minutes out of your day to send them a thoughtful message or give them a phone call to tell them that you are thinking of them. Presents, cake, and parties are nice too, but sometimes these are not always feasible occurrences.
Plus, after all, it is truly the thought that counts to make somebody feel special, not how much money you spend on them.
Meaningful words can carry a lot more weight than anything else. Ultimately, whichever way you choose to celebrate, or at what point in the day you choose to celebrate, simply being sure that you have acknowledged their day of birth is necessary.
Birthdays are important.
