At a rally at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon on March 25th, a small bird landed on the podium at which the presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was speaking. The crowd went wild, and Sanders let the small bird sit in peace, pausing his speech so he did not bother his new, winged friend. After it flew away, Sanders announced, “I think there may be some symbolism here. That bird is really a dove asking us for world peace.” The audience roared again.
The Audubon Society seized the opportunity to educate the public on birds, tweeting about “Birdie Sanders.”

This happenstance is one of many examples of Bernie Sanders's gentleness. Whether or not people believe the little finch perched on the podium is a symbol from Mother Nature that Bernie is the way to go, no one can deny his love and caring for humans and nature alike. Bernie Sanders's environmental policies are both revolutionary and effective in preventing catastrophic climate change. Bernie is an advocate of local family farming, protecting wildlife, cruelty-free breeding and livestock farming, clean energy, safe air and water, and conserving our natural resources.
Bernie's stance on environmental issues is one of the countless reasons why his followers are so passionate about his campaign. Sanders recognizes the importance of protecting our planet and the dangers that we will face if we continue to violently exploit our resources the way we do now.
No wonder he's made friends with the birds.
