To My Big Brother on His Wedding Day,
I'm proud of you.
Even when I shake my head, sigh, and laugh at you, I’m still proud. You led the way and protected us little siblings. You worked hard and made something amazing out of your life. You have always been the person I would go to when I did something wrong—and you’d be upset with me, but you’d always help. Each time I saw you with Hudson, I became more and more proud. You worked and changed to be the person that he needed and, in turn, he ended up being a little person you needed too.
I am grateful for you.
You have made my life harder in some ways, but so much more amazing in many others. You have cared for me and taken care of me. You let me tag along on more dates than a brother ever would. Even now, you and Chloe let me join. You taught me that life is meant for fun, not worrying. You, through endless teasing, taught me that crying over little things is silly. You are so protective that you make me mad, but it is good to know someone cares. After proposing, I remember you saying that you hoped I approved because Chloe would now be my sister—so, thank you for finally giving me a sister, and one as amazing and loving as her (I approve).
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry for always blaming everything on you. I am sorry that I'm so annoying and embarrass you day by day. I am sorry that I whine. I am sorry that only one of your best men can stand by you today… but know that the other is truly even closer than that.
I hope for you.
I hope this is the happiest day you have ever had, and I hope it can be a wonderful memory. I hope you love your new job and the opportunities it brings for you. I hope that you can let go of anything that makes you unhappy and anything that saddens you. I hope you know God cares so, so much for you and your new family. I hope you work harder at this family than at anything you have in your life…and anyone that knows you knows that you work even harder than you play.
I pray for you.
I pray that God blesses your life today and always. I pray that you make it through any challenges that life throws at you. I pray you only let happiness into your life. I pray you keep God close and never forget what He has given you. And, I pray that you will remember to pray too.
I am so happy for you.
I can’t believe you found Chloe, but I am so glad you did. I am so happy to see you work on your new house, a place you get to make just how you want it. I am so happy to see your little family and to watch it grow. (Soon!) I am so happy to be your sister.
Love,
Lizzy
